If this helps, we talk about This Day & Age in episode 2, then The Receiving End of Sirens in episode 4? haha It's true that a lot of the website's coverage is still the larger umbrella of CCM, but we do our best to cover metal, hip-hop, and all the rest, too. So far, the podcast has mostly involved just fun, lighthearted conversations of revisiting old albums, talking about current releases and news, but future episodes will also have interviews with artists as well as industry professional guest hosts. (I think we've got things lined up to bring Aaron Sprinkle on an episode soon.) As for me, the podcast is so consuming that mostly all I do for the site is planning, recording, editing, and producing the podcast. However, I was hired last March as a writer, and I still manage to fit some writing in. I appreciate your interest!
The new Listener album came out yesterday. Really enjoying it but I want to dive more into the lyrics. If you like Listener then head over to the thread and get involved. Big mewithoutYou vibes in places with this one. Can I also offer a recommendation? A worship leader over here in the UK called Samuel Lane put out a fantastic record yesterday. It's called The Difference and I'm so pleased for him. It sounds great and not at all like a generic worship album. His voice is incredible. And I'm getting some James Vincent McMorrow vibes in places. Sadly there are no singles available to embed from Youtube but there is an album promo here: Go over to Spotify or Apple Music and give it a listen. Hope some people enjoy it too.
Any fans of DENS? They have a new single. Their last album fit in with the My Epic / Ascend the Hill kind of worship style.
DENS is amazing. Shameless plug: I wrote a review of From Small Seeds Come Giant Trees for Indie Vision Music last year: Album Review : From Small Seeds Come Giant Trees - DENS | Indie Vision Music Seriously awesome guys and cannot wait for the new record!
Also, speaking of Indie Vision Music, my buddy just released his second single through their website: Song Premiere: Allen Odell - sing & talk - News, Streams - Indie Vision Music
This is a pretty fun christian project from bandcamp that I've recently run across in case anyone is interested.
Finally got to listen! I liked the vibe - very stripped back but not in a dull way. The voice is nice and the faint harmonies (or echo?) as the song progressed were a good addition which kept it interesting. And then the end where it got loud was brilliant. Would definitely check out another song. I'd say there's a Hell or High Water-era As Cities Burn meets Julien Baker sound here. I don't know if that's accurate or if you'd describe it differently but that's what I got from my listen. Yeah I'm pretty sure it was on IVM that I first heard about DENS and I'm pretty sure it was a review over there. Either that or someone mentioned them on here. Either way, it's probably going to be you!! Yes, always looking for new recommendations. Unfortunately it's saying 'the video is not available' for me.
Thanks for listening! I told him what you said tonight and he was very pleased with the Hell or High Water comparison. We hadn't even considered that but ACB is a huge influence for him so makes sense. And yes, Julien Baker is probably the first artist I think of when I hear this song...especially the intensity at the end.
Dang I know you said it, but I clicked on this expecting to hear a song haha. What's a good song to check out?
I Belong To You from his new album The Difference is one of my favourites - kind of demonstrates his new style nicely. And I'll throw in one from his older album which was more acoustic based because this is one of my all time favourites (lyrically). Heck, I do love his voice. Great tone and character.
Glad he appreciated it - I think Julien Baker is the most apt description but some of the guitar and the atmosphere definitely had ACB fingerprints. Looking forward to checking out what else comes.
Andrew Peterson's Resurrection Letters: Prologue - EP just came out and it is the definition of Christian music in the very best sense of the word.
Yeah I've been listening to it. I like the who idea behind the Resurrection Letters, read his post about it. I'm assuming Vol 1 will be more of an album
Yeah, Vol. 1 has nine songs. So 14 songs combined with the Prologue (and counting the interlude here). Just saw him last night and it's such an experience. It's more like an intimate conversation than a concert.
I like this! I'll have to keep this on my radar. Also on a side note I finally listened to London Grammar and though she has a unique voice, it wasn't my cup of tea. I tried
The new social club misfits album is good , Def their best work so far. Not sure if anyone here listens to them Also the new swoope album was a good listen.
What’s a good place to start with his music? I love his sound but diving in is daunting because there’s a lot of material.
