Man, totally caught off-guard by this... a brand new two song EP released today! They were one of the best bands. Very thankful and looking forward to listening. Just downloading it now.
Anyone in this thread who's a fan of rap has got to check out nobigdyl. Two of my friends and I just drove around listening to his record Canopy and it's excellent. Caught me completely off guard. I'm a casual fan of rap but I can already tell this one is going to stick with me all year.
Absolutely love this. Micah Kinard from Oh Sleeper is getting into real estate...! Also, his hair! Some of the memes are brilliant. Had to be done!
WHAT. Are they old-but-never-released songs, or did they make new music together? (Confession: I still haven't taken the time to listen to Everything In Slow Motion. Guess I need to catch up on his music!)
Brand new songs. Recorded as they have reunited for the Facedown Fest. I liked the EISM initial EP as it sounded very much like Give Me Rest. The full length and last year's EP have been ok but not my favourite. I've not connected with anything like I have Give Me Rest. These two new songs are pretty good though.
last years EISM ep was pretty good, still need to listen to the new Hands songs, one of my favorite heavy bands ever.
Edgy Christianity can be so immature and lame sometimes. Hopefully that's not what happens here. I want to love whatever it is he's putting out.
Judging by his last couple of albums I can't imagine it being lame or immature. It's got me intrigued, whatever it ends up like.
Yeah I'm really tired of that whole trend. Bad Christian in particular bothers me. Every time a band joins BC I am disappointed. For example, that new Classic Crime song just screams "LOOK HOW CONTROVERSIAL WE ARE!!!"
I never paid active attention to Classic Crime and didn't even know they still existed, lol, but yeah, the Emery guys are so faux-edgy. It's so obnoxious. I still remember listening to their Bad Christian podcast with Gungor: Michael and Lisa were just sharing their controversial opinions 'cause that's where their heads and hearts were, with no interest in the controversy their beliefs were causing, but the Emery guys were also giddy at the idea of stirring the pot. So childish.
I take back what I said above. The Bradley Hathaway album seems to be basically about sex. Not sure what I think of it. Shame the lyrics are jarring because the music sounds great.
You can now 'pre-order' Hope Where There Was None, the new album from Loud Harp, through Kickstarter. I'd say this is my most anticipated new release for the next few months. Their last album meant so much to me on a very personal level - excited for this!
I forget about Loud Harp! I need to go back and listen to Asaph because musically it was right up my alley, but it didn't impress me for whatever reason. I feel like it would now. Excited to see them working on another record. As for Bradley Hathaway, I read all the lyrics before I started listening to see if I even wanted to dive in. I don't. Call me a hypocrite for jamming Kendrick's new record and not being able to stomach this, but even Kendrick's song "LUST." is more subtle than some of the lyrics on this album. And it doesn't merge explicit sexual imagery with the Gospel in a really bizarre and disturbing way. Honestly, I think Bradley exploits the same issue he's trying to address by being so specific. There's a reason men who struggle with lust don't share the specific details of what they watched the previous night.
there wasn't much new info that can't be found elsewhere, but it was cool to hear interviews with most of the guys.
