There will be a vinyl pressing for Bleach’s Fox Den recordings, according to a reply I just got from one of the band members asking about it.
Just relistening to Levi The Poet’s Cataracts for the first time in a while. Possibly one of the best faith ‘deconstruction’ albums - so sensitively done, jarring, honest, full of grace and forgiveness. It’s remarkable really. I know the poetry spoken word hasn’t always been for everyone, but on this record I think the balance with hiphop, the contrast between heavy and light, was all perfect to capture the mood. It’s a shame there has never been a follow up as this one felt like he needed to get a lot off his chest after Mars Hill and about life in general, but from following him on Instagram I think he’d have some wonderful things to say about faith and life now that would contrast nicely with the heaviness and tone of this one.
Keep Forgiving is so good. also hoping for a follow up before too long. a collab with Garrett Russell from Silent Planet would be rad.
Run Kid Run reunion playing This Is Who We Are in the Chicago suburbs? Sign me up. Haven't seen the Fold in almost 20 years either, and Punchline is a nice bonus.
I appreciate the success they had with the Lego stuff because I'm sure it helped Dan financially, but it made me miss The Fold doing their regular thing...although they have released albums since. Shrug
Also speaking of The Fold, does anyone have their first indie EP by chance? https://www.discogs.com/release/25977238-The-Fold-Feeling-Like-Failure-Now
I remember really liking the first four songs of This Too Shall Pass but feeling like the album fell off a cliff after that. Idk maybe I'll spin it tonight
That album has a lot of great songs, including the closer, which features Matt Thiessen of Relient K. They also released a solid EP called Stargazer and I like their second and third albums a lot as well. I’ve liked what they’ve put out since then but haven’t spent much time with it.
Back in the day, their singer sent me a track they left off of Stargazer. Asked me not to share it, though. Nice guy.
Wow, I would love to hear that! I wonder how he’d feel about that now, ha. I once messaged him because the title track on Dear Future, Come Get Me was suddenly altered on streaming (to a shorter version that I think is not as good as the original) and he answered me explaining why he changed it. Then they later put the “extended version” (which was the original version) on streaming separately from the album. I wonder if my message had anything to do with that.
Bleach - FOX DEN SESSIONS VOL. 1(SMLXL EXCLUSIVE) Oh yeah! Heads up for Bleach fans- this will be the only variant and they’re being sort of pressed to order…meaning they may only produce a small quantity if not a ton of preorders come in…so get one if you want it. Support the band!
Selling a few more records if they catch anyone's interest: Dustin Kensrue - Carry the Fire Kings Kaleidoscope - Beyond Control John Mark McMillan - Borderland I've priced them roughly based on what I see on Discogs but can be flexible. Cheers!
Not my pic, but I saw on Reddit that Matt Thiessen is credited with vocals on the new Switchfoot record. Probably doesn't mean much (if anything) for Relient K, but glad he's putting his voice on records still. In fact, now that I think of it, is this the first song he's been on since RK covered Ammunition for the Beautiful Letdown deluxe edition? Might be.
