Dude I live in Canton and I was like wtf reading your comment and then I realized it was Alive fest lol What a ride
Yuppp. I’m in Pittsburgh. So not too far. The WV location is over 4 hours away. All and all disappointing.
I'm not much of a festival person (and especially not typical Christian festivals lol) but I'm gonna go to Audiofeed this year. It will be my second time. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but they always get a crazy amount of underground/off the radar acts. Last time I saw My Epic, Adjy, and discovered a bunch of great acts. This year I'm excited for Bleach, John Van Duesen, Andy Squyres, Jason Dunn from Hawk Nelson, The Skies Revolt, Real Face, and a bunch of others.
That's amazing! My friend Kevin Schlereth runs Audiofeed now. I've gotten to play a few times and it's a blast. Such a unique, diverse crowd. Will probably miss this year, but hoping to play again next year!
Oh word! I know Kevin too, such a sweet guy. If we ever catch the same year together we'll have to meet up!
Kevin Schlereth is a gem. Also have friends who played at audiotree and it's a solid community they've built there!
Just checked out the lineup for this year. Gaffer Project is sick. One of my old bandmates filled in for them on drums for a few shows. Never saw them live before but the videos alone make them feel like a band you don't wanna miss. And The Lionhearted is an old buddy of mine's project. Definitely try and check them out if you can!
Listened to Philmore the other day and wondered what happened to them...went looking and came across a pretty active/updated IG account for them with new song clips for an upcoming album. Loved these guys back in the day and it appears we may get more from them. Check their IG profile for a bunch of new song clips, including updated versions of songs from their Demolition EP.
Philmore isn’t streaming on Apple Music. A little strange to find music not readily available like that.
I think it's a 5 Minute Walk label issue. Certain FIF, Brave Saint Saturn, etc records aren't available for streaming which is unfortunate
I was at a memorial service at my mom’s church today and their worship band might be the words I’ve ever seen. Two old ladies singing, teenager on keyboard, and pastor on drums. Man the absolutely butchered Amazing Grace.
Ethan Nathaniel put out an album on Friday titled River of Gladness. I do love his music. Such a talent.
Vol. 170 - No Direction by The Wedding w/Matt Shelton, Cody Driggers & Adam Thron Good podcast with The Wedding going through No Direction. I didn't listen to much of their earlier stuff but once Matt Shelton took over vocals I fell in love with them. The Sound the Steel EP is sooooo good and I still listen to No Direction too. Crazy fact from the episode I never knew, Matt was going to audition for FSF after Chris left but instead started Letter Kills. How to Start a Fire is perfect but that could have been an awesome alternate reality. But I think things worked out for everyone
Ooh going to have to listen to this. The Wedding were great. After realizing one of their unreleased songs (Bethlehem) was used by Children 18:3 on their last album, I emailed one of the guys about it and they sent me their version of Bethlehem, told me to never share it haha. Super nice of him!
The first two Wedding albums are so formative for me. I saw them tons of times during that era and was pretty gutted when Kevin left. Matt's a great vocalist but the band was never the same for me after that. I still have some regrets about not traveling for the reunion they did with Kevin a while back. One of the sillier pieces of merch in my collection.
Expanded vinyl edition of the Wedding’s first album, with bonus tracks: The Wedding (Expanded Edition) Vinyl Double LP [SMLXL EXCLUSIVE] Discogs has two copies of Polarity on vinyl for sale...mentioning this because these will likely never be repressed. And they each have exclusive bonus tracks on them. https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/11889942
Man what a blast from the past. I had a strong love affair with Polarity and kinda forgot it existed until right now
Thanks for the reminder on The Wedding & Letter Kills (& Children 18:3). I spun The Sound the Steel a ton when that came out.
