The vocal harmonies are worth the price of admission! Others have given good advice, but I'll mention my gateway was with the music video for "In the Valley of the Dying Sun" which remains a banger. So good.
Dang, giving it a spin for the first time in years while working late this evening, and you're not kidding! Forgot just how catchy it is.
It might be controversial to say but I listen to this album and sometimes I think it’s their masterpiece. It really feels like the height of their creativity and songwriting.
I love Say No More, don't skip that album! I remember first hearing them on The Revolution Will Begin in the Blink of an Eye complications. It must have been a demo/edited version of Mercedes Baby on the first one. Their later albums are so good but I enjoy the earlier raw/less polished sound too
this convo got me listening to their discography again today. i think suburba ended up being my favorite, but their 3 middle albums and the ep are all top tier pop/rock.
In the context of their band narrative, etc, or like if I was asked which was their biggest album, I’d pick The End now that we’re 10+ years removed from them being culturally relevant and if someone was looking for a starting point, I’d pick Cold Hard Want
Stoked to spin the new Josh Garrels record tomorrow. His last was a great contemplative piece and I'm hoping for more of the same.
Bleach fans that wanted the coke bottle clear band variant that was only sold at Furnace Fest, it just got posted for sale: Bleach - Live/The Lost Show [Limited Edition Band Color LP] And there’s around 10 copies of the white variant still available: Bleach - Live/The Lost Show [Limited Edition SMLXL Color LP] They aren’t cheap but the band hand stamped everything and if these sell well, they might try pressing some full-lengths.
I would be so unbelievably excited for getting Bleach albums pressed! I remembered the conversation way back about getting those, look at all of us doubting that ever happening!
Didn’t know there was a 25% off code on the Bleach vinyl (and a bunch of other titles) till SMLXL’s recent email blast: BFCM25
