Like the leaves that fall off of a tree, I know that love has just left me. I can give in to being estranged as the branches wilt and the colors change.
Here it is! The moment we all(@Fuck You Aurora ) have been waiting for, a series of words talking about the fantastic music album. Mastodon-Emperor of Sand Big shoot-out to my pal @Fuck You Aurora for this fantastic rec eh. It was aboot dam time I got around to listening this album, I remember digging the first song Sultan’s Curse a lot but unfortunately the album got buried under so many other great releases in 2017. But thankfully fate matched me with @Fuck You Aurora and changed all that. The first song “Sultan’s Curse” acts as in my opinion a very strong album opener that sets the tone for the rest of the record. It also leads directly into my favourite track on the album “Show Yourself” this song immediately grabs your attention with catchiness and the request to “Show yourself Show yourself I want to see everything you're made of” the opening of this song may be my favourite moment on the whole album. Throughout this whole record mastodon just seem to be back at the top of their game. The record sequencing flows so well together and it feels so tight and cohesive. The lyrics on this album are really top notch and relatable, in “Steambreather” we hear: “I wonder who I am Reflections offer nothing I wonder where I stand I'm afraid of myself” This is something over my life I have often asked myself more as a what do I want in life? Who do I want to be? type deal. This album is just full of jams, bangers, great lyrics, great musicianship and awesome moments. If you haven’t listened to this yet, get on it. 10/10 would listen over and over again it’s so “angular” dudes. Fun Fact: It’s a great album to listen to while playing Watch Dogs 2. Standout Tracks: Show Yourself, Steambreather, Word to the Wise, Scorpion Breath
This actually sums up the album perfect ! The lyrics on the album actually have a lot to do with Bill's mom passing away from cancer. The album is actually different than what they normally do. I remember when " Show Yourself " was first released fans weren't sure how they felt about it.
