If nothing else I’ll do a couple write-ups for the EPs I checked out today courtesy of @Colin Your Enthusiasm
Took on a second partner this week @jorbjorb here is what we are checking out I will listen to: Secret Space-The Widow Room jorbjorb will listen to: Safe To Say-Down in the Dark
Glad you enjoyed them! American Gospel is just the side project of one of the dudes in Republic of Wolves. It's odd he hasn't put anything new out for the project, and this is definitely my favorite between the two. Duffy is somewhat different than what I normally listen to as well, but lately I've been going more in that direction with what I've been enjoying. I think I'll have my thoughts on the Sarah Jaffe album posted tomorrow or Wednesday, and the Jason Isbell sometime this weekend. Didn't want to leave you in the cold, busier week than I thought it'd be for me!
I listened to @AelNire's suggestions today. Going to give them at least one more listen before I post my little reviews. Question: Can we post these reviews anytime or should we ideally wait for Saturday so we can read each other's opinions all at once?
I’m super busy this week because of finals, so I’m going to post my thoughts about last weeks albums tomorrow morning.
just sing made up lyrics over the swearing parts. that's what I do to The Money Pit, they swear an awful lot on that album, but my kids love it!
this week I was given Sunny Day Real Estate - How It Feels To Be Something On and Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill to review by @EmmanuelSCastle Sunny Day Real Estate - How It Feels to Be Something On I guess I'm kind of cheating this week because I have heard this album before, many times in fact. I just haven't listened to it in maybe ten years or so, and it's one of those albums that I couldn't really recall any one song from, but when I started to play it: everything felt very familiar, as though I knew where it was going (I didn't). "Pillars" is the perfect opener, and feels like the quintessential SDRE chorus. love the verses here, too. "Roses in Water" is a highlight for me. it's weird, angular, moody, beautiful. "Every Shining Time You Arrive" is lovely; the guitars are gorgeous. his vocals are otherworldly at times. "Two Promises" is pretty, angsty, catchy. I wish I could review every song but I'm very high right now and I just don't see it working out. all you really need to know is I listened to it and I liked it. you should listen to it if you're cool Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill So I know of Lauryn Hill from The Fugees of course, and I remember seeing the video for "Doo Wop (That Thing)" on MTV, this album I had never listened to though. it seems to have a running theme of growing up through experiencing the pain that love can sometimes cause. this album is very lovelorn. this isn't something I would typically listen to but I can appreciate it for being soulful, catchy, and more than anything: meaningful. my favorite songs are "Lost Ones" "Final Hour" and "Tell Him"
Wow for a second I thought your kids listened to Death Grips and wanted to give them major props but then I remembered that’s The Money Store. Damn.
