That A Will Away record sounds like my kinda thing. I need to put that on my list to check out.

  15. Rather than asking in their dedicated thread, as the opinions are too varied, my girlfriend got me tickets to see Alkaline Trio. I love them but she doesn’t know them, what album should she listen to?

Yeah I’d say From Here To Infirmary or Crimson are the best to get someone into Alk3.

Trash Boat - Crown Shyness 9/10
    trash-boat-crown-shyness.jpg

I really, really, really loved this album. I asked myself recently where all the good pop-punk bands went. The new Real Friends album is pretty good, but that's about it. Trash Boat combines vocals similar to Bayside's with elements of The Wonder Year's The Greatest Generation. They are shouty, but show enough emotion to be genuine. My favorite tracks are actually the slowest and cleanest. The track "Crown Shyness" is the slowest track (but not quite a ballad) and it's a song that really gets me once he hits certain notes. The lyrics also hit close to home:

Do you even know what depression looks like?
    Is it tangible?
    See through every disguise
    So much to show
    But is my progression finite?
    Does it matter at all?

"Old Soul" really shows off the singer's vocal range and "Inside Out" is heavy and angry, maybe a step heavier from The Story So Far. "Love, Hate, React, Relate" is an excellent closer with vocalist Tobi Duncan screaming the last words of the album isolated from any other sounds, which I'm always a sucker for in songs.

If you like pop-punk, listen to this album. I'm not a fan of The Story So Far, Neck Deep, or the other current bands, but this is great.

    Thanks, @Bad Frequencies
