Great review mate, glad you enjoyed this one too. I think you captured the aesthetic of the music well in it.

It's a cool album this one, nice and chill and I love her style of singing. I also really love how some of the electronics and her vocal samples are used throughout this album. My fav tracks are Fly, Parrafin and Headlights so it was nice to see you enjoyed those too.

This was certainly the wild card out of the two recs I gave, there is a lot to digest on this album both thematically and musically. I myself did not know there was a singular narrative throughout the album so it's cool to know that although it doesn't entirely surprise me. They have a new album coming out August 10th 'Ghost City' which from every indication so far might be something you get more out of.

    "I'd Kill To Fall Asleep"

Alright, for my bonus album @Nate_Johnson gave me the album Peresevere by Cleveland, Ohio’s “Sink The Ship”.

This band is a combination of post-hardcore and pop punk mixed in with some metal riffs and killer breakdowns. This album has a few guest vocals from the singers of Chunk! No Captain Chunk! And Miss May I. This just goes to show you that this band walks the line between those 2 bands. Lyrically, this album is full of songs about being true to yourself and your friends. The first few tracks “Second Chances” and “Out of Here” are all about this sentiment.

The only thing that maybe took away from the album a bit is the length of the album. 14 tracks is a lot of songs. There is a really excellent acoustic version of the track “Domestic Dispute” which shows the band off in a different light, with a bit of a softer side which was a nice ending to an album that straight from the get go was the opposite of this.

There were some standout tracks such as: Second Chances, Domestic Dispute (both versions), Everything and Nail Biter. If you’re a fan of A Day to Remember then Sink The Ship will be right up your alley. For a first album, I’m really impressed with the songwriting as I could relate to many of the songs and I’m a sucker for all the Awesome breakdowns.

Again, thanks @Nate_Johnson you have excellent taste ! I enjoyed the trades and look forward to more in the future.

    Hello CMC friends!
Here is my review for A Perfect Circle // Eat The Elephant
I traded this album with our boy @Bad Frequencies
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well...For starters, this album is a total trip! I must admit that I haven't actually listened to APC since they released Thirteenth Step back in 2003. With that being said, Anything Maynard James Keenan is involved with always seems to be on my radar cause he's such a pioneer for so many of my friends. I'm more well versed and a fan of his bigger music project known as TOOL. When I first started listening to this record I actually had to double check to make sure I was actually listening to the right record! The first track begins with this interesting jazzy drum beat the eventually materializes into that familiar territory that eMOTIVe left off in.

This record contains a lot of the familiar things that make APC the band that they are known for being. Me, being the guitar player that I am, I immediately was looking for those famous aggressive delay driven guitar parts that Billy Howerdel is always responsible for. I was also excited to see where Maynard would take the songs lyrically and I think that this record a pretty good return for the band. I must admit that I always thought that they'd make a return to a heavier melodic sounding side, given the political climate in the U.S. at the moment. With that being said, the journey that this record takes was a bit unexpected for me. It's has a bit more atmospheric things going on with it than any of the previous records have had in the past. For me, I felt that Keenan's lyrics feel a bit flat in places throughout the record. To me, This sounded a bit more like their side projects (Puscifer / ASHES dIVIDE) and not APC. I was confused as to if they were trying to be satirical and funny, Or serious and "in your face" as they have been in the past.

However! I think that this record is a taste of the direction they are taking. Although it feels a bit awkward in places, I think that it is a representation for where the band is now, and where they plan on taking it in the future. One of my closest friends was saying that that this record is something that translates in a live environment better than it does on your first few listens. To be clear, I don't think that this is bad release by any measure. It has a lot to offer to the discography of APC and fans alike. We're lucky to even have some new music from the group because they seem to work a bit slower than most bands. I'm interested in seeing where the next record takes them. I think that this record acts as a new chapter for the bands development and discography.

If, you like APC i'm interested to hear what you think about this recent release from them. It seems to be a very polarizing release from them for fans alike.

    Here is my review!
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Teenage Wrist// Chrome Neon Jesus review
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week I am reviewing a record from the band Teenage Wrist titled 'Chrome Neon Jesus.' On the first listen some of the elements that pop out about this record are the dreamy textured landscapes that are accompanied by overdrive bass tones, and heavy hitting Percussion. Chrome Neon Jesus has an interesting sonic quality to it, finding the balance of a modern take on 90's alternative rock, and the recently popular shoe gauze style of music. This record is very well Produced, and sounds very good overall as a full length record. Most records in this genre tend to lean towards grittier and raw textured recordings that require a little bit of listener attention to see and understand the overall vision that artist is trying to project. I feel that one reason this records sounds the way it does it because it was recorded and produced by Carlos De La Garza (Jimmy eat World and Paramore.) What I like about this release is that you don't necessarily need to be a fan of the Shoe gauze genre to enjoy this record. You can easily listen to Chrome Neon Jesus without apprehension.

There is not a single song on this record that falls short of expectation. This record sonically drives it home on each track. My favorite thing about this release is the pocket that the bass tone sits in throughout the record. It seems to sit right in front in the mix and leaves the guitars to really pan around and do their job in the listeners ears. The first track on this record is titled "Chrome Neon Jesus." It's a very good opening song for this band because it really introduces the listener to the band, the album concept, and the path the entire record it going to take listener down. It is layered with very catchy melodies and climatic instrumentation. The rhythm of this song will leave you curious and begging for more. The second song is titled "Dweeb" which starts out very spooky sounding and materializes into a heavy grunge, gigantic chorus song. My favorite song is the third song which is titled "Swallowed." This song reminds me a lot of 2003 Citizen and Daylight/Superheaven. It's layered the hell out with guitars doing atmospheric stuff in the background and grungy over driven stuff in the foreground. The guitar solo on this one is my favorite cause it reminds me of my favorite band, The Smashing Pumpkins.

This record is very good! it's littered with really good, tightened guitar riffs that are driven hard with bass and percussion. I love the overall sound of this record because it reminds me a lot of the music that was coming out of Run For Cover records in 2003. I love that the cover art of this record really sets the tone for how it actually sounds. You can start listening anywhere in the track listing of this record and not feel lost at all. Not to rip on Marshall Gallagher and Kamtin Mohager's vocals on this record, but this is one of those records that would sounds really cool instrumental also. There is so much going on instrumentally speaking. There is never a dull moment on Neon Chrome Jesus. It gets heavy, and carries you all the way through it's entirety. I really like this record and I think you should check it out!

    Thank you!

Great review, I definitely agree that it seems to be a polarising album with fans.

I really liked this album from the get go (I’m a massive fan of Maynard so I may be biased) and it’s turned into my AOTY through repeat listens. I think if you live with it a bit longer it might grow on you.

I saw them on Wednesday and your mate is right it really does translate well. I’d even go as far as saying the new songs impressed me more than a lot of the old APC stuff they played (bar a couple of the big hitters). So Long, Talk Talk, Hourglass all impressed me live but my good The Doomed is phenomenal live.
