ha! really cool! I tried to make sure my assignments are mostly european bands and Fjort just released a new record so they're on everyone's minds in the scene, so to say. And yeah, Fjørt's lyrics are like super lefty stuff like "for every 2 nazis there's 10 of us so let's go get 'em" and stuff like that haha
I looooove WPSIATWIN, you’re in for a treat. I’d recommend listening to all their albums if you ever get the time. Favourite Worst Nightmare and Humbug are some of my favorite albums ever
Glad you're enjoying them! I won't be able to dig into yours until later in the week, but I have a good feeling about them!
Assignment #1 Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain by Pavement via @angrycandy There is a certain sense of ease and playfulness about this album that is infectious. Not only that, but especially considering the album is 21 years old, it holds up. The riffs are creative and the rhythm section does a great job, keeping things moving and interesting. There's even some jazz-esque moments sprinkled in throughout the record. All in all it's very easy to see how this band influenced a lot of musicians to this day. This is a record I'll keep spinning for the foreseeable future.
Yo just quick shoutout to @shanerockey, courtesy of whom I will be checking out Heavy Meta by Ron Gallo and the self-titled album by Racquet Club, which I already adore 2 songs in.
I've only heard one AM song that I'm aware of, so I'm excited! For some reason in my head I associate them w the strokes except I don't think they're related at all? But yeah he said all their albums are pretty different so I'll probably check them all out
i love guitarists that aren't great guitarists but are great guitarists for their particular band. Stephen Malkmus is a perfect example.
Working on the four albums I took on this week now. Liked mitski a lot. Listening to Björk now, and good god the track ‘Joga’ is beautiful
I think this is low-key the best thread on this forum. the album recs I've gotten this week are off the charts.
