Happy birthday @ugman_2000 ! One of the best society members!

  2. 1. Bring You Back - Very solid opener. Kinda reminds me of Yellowcard a little bit.
    2. Nervous Breakdown - The vocal delivery on the verses is pretty dumb. I don't like this one at all. The chorus is kinda catchy though.
    3. End of the Underground - This song should have been their reference point for where to put the screams in the mix on their new album. Pushing them into the background makes it much better. With that said, this song isn't very good.
    4. Drive - This is different for them. It's got a dancy vibe to it which I don't hate. So far, this and the opener are the only two songs I'm into.
    5. Gravestones - This is real bad. And what's up with the "Puttin' on the Ritz" vocal melodies? haha.
    6. Broken Man - This is pretty classic HH. I like it.
    7. Last Few Words - I like this one quite a bit. It's pretty run of the mill HH, but it's catchy and energetic through the whole thing which is always a good time.
    8. Abandoned Drive - I don't like this one as much as the last couple songs. But it's fine. Feels like a filler track.
    9. Picket Fences - This one kinda reminds me (nice way of saying "rip off") of "Dinner at the Money Table" by The Early November, but nowhere near as perfect. B-)
    10. Here I Am - Not a fan of this one at all.
    11. Hollywood and Vine - A pretty standard little pop punk jam. It's fine, but it's been done a hundred billion times by a hundred billion bands (which is fine) but a billion bands have written this song better, if that makes sense.
    12. Unforgivable - This one's whatever.
    13. Boy - Good closer. I like this one a lot.

Overall, this is a pretty basic Hawthorne Heights album, but you can tell that they wanted to step out of their comfort zone a little bit for a couple songs. The lack of excessive screaming was nice. I really liked how they mixed the screaming pretty far into the background. I wish they would have mixed the new album like that, where the screaming is a little too abrasive (and just poorly executed.)

    Score: 4.5/10

Niicccee. Chuck will always be an all time favorite of mine. The whole ending of 88 is amazing, glad you liked it and also that you picked out Open Your Eyes because that has always been a favorite as well.

  13. LIFE IN VACUUM - ALL YOU CAN QUIT

    1. Jazz - Solid opener! Awesome riffs on this one! The vocals remind me a lot of Middle Class Rut.
    2. Apartment - Another relentless jam! These riffs!
    3. The Screaming Fish - That intro/chorus riff is so rad! These songs have so much energy. I just want to fuckin throw down in a circle pit to this shit, haha.
    4. Quitting - This one didn't hit me quite as hard as the others so far, but it still rips. What the hell.
    5. All You Can Eat - Another ripper!
    6. Bully - Jesus... This song fucking rules too. (Why am I even wasting my time writing a track-by-track review? ALL THE SONGS ARE GREAT! That's all I need to say, really, haha.)
    7. Sinker - A nice (welcome) slower jam for me to catch my breath. It still hits real hard though.
    8. Cut Throat - This one's abrasive and chaotic and perfect.
    9. Champion - Wow this guitar riff just blasts right in! This song is nuts! I love it.
    10. It's You - Fuckin rules.
    11. Uniform - What a huge closer! This song is relentless. Like pretty much every other song, ha.

Bottom line: I love this shit! This band is just all up screaming in your face, and showing no mercy pretty much the entire time. The guitar riffs on this thing is unreal. The drumming really adds to it too, and the bass is in there holding those two instruments together, giving it some extra umph. The vocalist reminds me a little bit of Weatherbox's singer at some points, especially in "Sinker."

Looks like they're playing at our super tiny punk rock DIY venue here in June. I will be there, for sure!

Thanks for introducing me to a new band!

@Colin Your Enthusiasm recommended this to me a few days back and I listened to it the first time this morning. I really dug it - yeah, lots of awesome riffs and it's definitely pretty relentless like you said!

Yes!!! This band brings the chaos, fury and noise! They remind me of Refused mixed with some Showbread and Death From Above 1979. Recipe for mayhem. I also recommend their previous album since if you both liked this one:

  16. i'll mos def check out their other stuff! i'm obsessed with this new one now, haha. why isn't there an album thread for it, sir?!

I just get too lazy and never think anyone will go in it if I make one. That's why I didn't do one for Rad Horror either.
