I’m glad you liked it enough to support them. You are right in that there is not a ton of variety but it is so catchy and you are singing along after a few listens. I hear so many influences in their music.

Yeah I can see myself growing to love this band. I don't always need variety or shredding solos to enjoy a good rock band. Always nice to add something new for my car rides that isn't "that screaming shit" according to the wife lol. Hope all the best for these guys.

Hope you like heavy things :-)

I finally saw them live last week and my god Justine has an incredible scream.

The Biffy comparisons have really piqued my interest. I might put this somewhere on my list of things to check out after festival season.

    Hot Rod Circuit
    Sorry About Tomorrow (2002)

This week @Patterns in Traffic gave me a gem and a throw back, Hot Rod Circuit - Sorry About Tomorrow. So, I think everybody that listens to music from this scene knows how Hot Rod is just about. I completely know who they are and somehow never really listened to them. Considering a lot of my favorite bands are from this scene and I've never gave them much attention besides a couple songs is crazy ! Funny thing is I just saw Andy Jackson a couple years ago too. This album opens up with a framilliar song called " The Pharmacist " and as soon as it started I started singing along to it, I remember hearing this song a lot back in the day and the opening lines just stuck with me and my face just lit up. The next track " At Natures Mercy " is somehow another song I've heard, and I caught singing the chorus and just jamming out. The thing I love about " At Natures Mercy " is it has such a Alkaline Trio influence and when I say that I mean more along the lines of old school Trio. Next up is a track called " Radiation Suit " and it's a stellar tune, the way Andy sings it really brings me in and that guitar tone is beautiful. Oh and I hear a heavy Hot Water Music influence in this tune ! The highlights on this album for me are " Safely " and " Knees ". " Safely " has that early 2000's emo sound I fucking love and again I hear that old school Trio influence. Now " Knees " is my favorite track on this album, Andy's voice and the bass playing is just great. The song has a sad and a depressing feel to it. Lyrically it really hits home. How I just never gave this band a full chance is beyond me ! I'm absolutely in love with this album and see why they were such a huge part of the scene.

" You can wake me when we get there
Cause I don't care if I see the daylight
And I'd run there but my knees are weak and my body needs to be close to you
    Sometime soon "

Wow! This album brings me back! I saw them with The Anniversary, Dashboard Confessional and Saves the Day a long time ago!

Saves the Day headlined, that’s how long ago it was!

They put out music sporadically but I don’t think it will ever be a full time thing.

Yeah I do and I've been on a heavy kick lately so should fit in nicely into my rotation if I end up liking the album.

@Colin Your Enthusiasm Listen to Nate, they’ve been killing it with heavy releases recently. They’ve put out incredible albums by Employed To Serve, Rolo Tomassi, Conjurer and Møl in the last 12 months.

  20. Great review! I would also recommend their most recent (possibly final) full-length, The Underground Is a Dying Breed. If you want to go back to their more pop punk roots, @Nate_Johnson's rec of If It's Cool with You, It's Cool with Me is also great. Their whole discography is really good.

Andy Jackson's output outside of HRC has been kind of spotty IMO, and he's released stuff under a handful of different names. His one album with Death in the Park is pretty solid and similar to SAT-era HRC. There are also some great Andy songs on the Terrible Things album he did with Fred Mascherino. That's a really good album front to back.

His most recent two albums have been under the names Sloss Minor and Andy Jackson and the Mary Tyler Mormons. There was nothing memorable to me on the Sloss album. The Mary Tyler Mormon's record has some good stuff and has some twang to it. If you're open to that it's a good listen.

Myself and the great @Larry David have traded this week.

    I will listen to:
Julien Baker- Turn Out The Lights

    They will listen to:
    Grayscale - Adornment

Full disclosure, I have actually heard one song from the Julien Baker album but they still said to go ahead with that one as I don't remember much from it.
