SS or LINAWR for Senses Fail and Blackswan for SOTY is what people should be given to start! Turning away too many people with the band's newer toned down releases my dude
I usually start people with Black Swan on SOTY tbh except for people who I know may like Wolves more. As for Senses Fail I beg to differ, it depends on the person. Ask @Nate_Johnson he literally loathed Enfold and Searching, gave up on SF, and ITILIWFY hooked him
I don't have much to say about LIEY because I'm in the minority who thinks that album isn't very good at all, but I am shocked that SS didn't hook someone who likes ITILIWFY. I still think the 1-2 hit of Fireworks at Dawn and Lungs Like Gallows should convert anyone. Are those the only three albums you've heard by them @Nate_Johnson ?
From the disclaimer The only way you can turn down an album recommendation is if you have heard the album already or for due cause reasoning (I.e. that one band we won’t name that makes people sick to their stomachs now)
I fully give @Nate_Johnson all the credit in the world for getting me back into Senses Fail, I refound my love for the band ever since he had me listen to Light. I remember why this band was always one of my favorites. Not to mention I found a love for The Fire now as well as Renacer.
My thinking is: If an album is new to you, who cares what the release year is? Seems like an odd constraint to give your partner. You're just limiting the options to a small percentage of what's out there and you run the risk of missing out on some fantastic albums. Had I told @ugman_2000 that I was only interested in 2018 releases, I would've missed out on this gem of an album that they recommended me that came out in 2017 (this is a tease for my upcoming review!)
I will NEVER turn down a recommendation. I just ask my partner to give me a 2018 release first. If not, then bring it on! I got a sick T. Rex recommendedation from 1970!
I was gonna say this. While Nate does PREFER 2018 releases, he doesn’t refuse to trade if you cannot or don’t want to give him one. That’s his prerogative. I agree with if someone were to ONLY accept 2018 releases tht would be super limiting, Miss out on a lot of things, and be unfair to the partner. But since he doesn’t outright refuse, rather suggests, it’s within CMCS Code.
I do need to type out a CMCS code of conduct one day. No ones really broken what I have in mind, but it would be handy to have.
