I was honestly shocked they were capable of putting out a record like Wolves this far into their career especially since The Constant might be my least favorite from them. My favorite songs are: "I Swear, I'm Okay", "The Eternal Battle for Mike Cronin's Soul" and "Praying for Rain" - what about you?
How Can We Go On, I Swear I’m Okay, Miracle, A Part Of Me and My Home. But I love every single song on the album!
literally the only halfway decent story of the year album is in the wake of determination because its the closest to being a straight up hardcore album
You are in for such a treat, both albums are so good! My favorites too! My Home has grown on me so much.
Dudes are so talented and great song writers. I really hope now that they are back and got a good response with Wolves that we get new music more consistently. No more 8 year gaps please.
@Nate_Johnson I haven't forgotten about ya, I'll get that review out on that Between The Burried And Me record.
I’ve just gone in on one of my (main) albums this week and I’m loving it. Proper fun album so far, I hope it holds up this quality for the whole thing
Honestly, The Black Swan and Wolves are pretty much tied for my favorite SotY album. I went with Black Swan because Wolves has already been recommended like 5 times in this thread haha
Also if it's someone's first SOTY experience, you want them to hear The Antidote, Angel in the Swamp and Welcome to Our New War
I thought about recommending In the Wake since it's the most "metal" sounding album from them, but I would have felt bad recommending my least favourite SotY album.
Makes sense - I'm glad to hear so many people share the Wolves love! You're killing me with the Wake comment though...that's easily my second favorite and I think Swan ranks just above The Constant which is my least favorite.
Hot take, Page Ave and Wolves are my least favorites. I still consider each a 10/10 or 9/10... but Wake, Swan and Constant are the ones I go back to the most.
I had a lot of hot takes about Wake in the Story of the Year bracket, especially about one song in particular. I like the album though, but there has to be one at the bottom.
I just couldn't get into Wolves. I'm not sure why, if the new Senses Fail got me back in the groove you think Wolves would have
Wolves had a lot of slow and electronic tracks on it. I think SF went back to their older style a bit which probably helped, but I can see why one would be into one and not the other. I loved Wolves, but at the same time was disappointment a bit in the lack of energy. I've just grown to appreciate what it is, instead of what I wanted it to be.
