@JediMasterKevo182 and I have decided to exchange two albums this week. I will be listening to: Creeper - Eternity, In Your Arms Fort Minor - The Rising Tied He will be listening to: Emery - The Question Thursday - No Devolucion
the first album @Larry David gave me was Dredg - El Cielo ive heard the name dredg around for years, always saw them described as progressive and in the same breath with some bands i really like (circa, rx bandits, as tall as lions, others) but never gave them a shot for some reason. anyway im really mad i never did because they're definitely up the alley of the bands i just mentioned, but im also seeing similarities between this album and radiohead, coheed, porcupine tree, idk theres just a lot of different styles and parallels im seeing here that are ultimately all over the place but pretty squarely in a progressive rock/progressive indie space. the album is really catchy, the guitars are super textured and detailed, and the frontman's voice is really great. its a little long, there's some filler in the middle of the record, but overall im a really big fan of what im hearing and will definitely be listening to this a lot more. in particular i love the first four songs on the album, that stretch is incredible and pulls you right in. 7.75/10
That’s awesome to see Kev I’m coming home a day early now so I should have your album reviews up sometime tomorrow. Hope you have fun with Creeper @bachna84 Also while it’s not my favourite of theirs No Devolucion is a great Thursday album. @Larry David I’ll pm you tomorrow about trading albums next week as I’m traveling home today.
Just read @Kennedy 's review for Now Only. Damn dude excellent writting. Finally put the record on now. Will try to keep it together and get through the whole album all at once.
So @anonimito and I are trading and we going to go all out and trade three albums! They will be listening to: Between the Buried and Me: Automata I David Maxim Mimic: Who Bit the Moon The XCERTS: Hold on to Your Heart I will be listening to: Olafur Arnalds: Winter Speak Low if You Speak Love: Nearsighted Vertical Horizon: The Lost Mile
I’ve been a fan of the band since just before Scatterbrain but I think this new album has already slotted into 2nd place for me now. I’d order them as the following: There Is Only You>Hold Onto Your Heart>In The Cold Wind We Smile>Scatterbrain They’re all really good and have their own merits imo though.
Damn Scatterbrain last? I mean im partial to that one because of Sapone's production. Just love Mike's work. The Steve Albini of the scene. Yip is getting up there too now but Sapone is a legend.
Ok cool sounds good. Lemme think of what i want to give. Actually i think i already know and no its not Black Foxxes haha
I’ve put it there as it’s the one I go back to the least. I still love it though and I really wish they’d repress it so I could complete my collection of theirs.
