Mate, I'm sorry to hear this. If you need to talk to someone, even if it's to message someone totally removed from the situation and across the other side of the world - let me know.
Guys I just want to say, remember to not make this hard on yourselves and have fun with it. I think some people make it harder than it needs to be. People really just need to do like a paragraph (5 sentences) or something and say if they liked it, what their favorite songs were, if they’ll listen again; and that’s fine. You have people like @bachna84 @Nate_Johnson @Michael Schmidt and @Wall Of Arms and myself that do longer ones but that’s because we enjoy it and choose to. Don’t make it hard on yourself, write whatever you are comfortable with writing. No one is going to get mad and go “How dare you only write a paragraph! Bad!”
I hope whatever you have going on works itself out. I appreciated the albums you assigned to me and I’ll definitely be returning to them in future!
So @theagentcoma and me decided.... and I can say I waited for this day for a long time They gave me; Skin & Earth by Lights Stranger In The Alps By Phoebe Bridges And I gave them; Self Titled-Blink-182 Louder Now- Taking Back Sunday
@Craig Manning Here are my thoughts on the albums that Mr.Manning recommended. The Damnwells- No One Listens to This Band Anymore Going into this record I wasn’t sure what to expect as I have never heard the Damnwells before this. What I got was a very emotionally driven well-crafted album packed with strong melodies and a good variety of different styles. The album grips you right away delivering a one-two punch of title track “No One Listens to this Band Anymore” and “Feast of Hearts” it feels like these two songs immediately reach out and demand your attention and do a great job of setting the tone for the album. My standout track comes halfway through the record “Let’s Be Civilized” it’s a more stripped down folk based track with some excellent lyrics and vocals. Standout Tracks: No One Listens to this Band Anymore, Let’s Be Civilized, Sophia, She Goes Around John Moreland- High on Tulsa Heart From the opening note and the first vocals on this album it reminded me of Northcote, a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist. The songs themselves are fairly simple but packed with heart and emotion, making for a very enjoyable listen. Moreland has a fantastic voice and it shines throughout this album extremely well. This album is quite the mood lifter, I listened to quite a bit after my grandmas passing and it was very calming for me. Standout Tracks: Heart’s Too Heavy, Cherokee, You Don’t Care for Me Enough to Cry
@bradsonemanband Park - Building A Better _____ Not sure if it was just me but I had a hard time tracking this album down to listen to it. This was a very enjoyable pop-punk album, it is by no means ground breaking but it was a solid listen. The lyrics are fairly dark and the vocals can be fairly intense. The instrumentation on this album was also very strong and had some pretty standout drums. However I can’t really seeing myself seeking this out and returning to it very often or at all. My favourite moment happens at the beginning of Mississippi Burning with this lyric “More nightmares/Someone wake me when they're through/Stop my lover's ghost from trying to protrude” Standout Tracks: Trophy Wife, Mississippi Burning, Angles and Errors Grade - Under The Radar Unfortunately, I really struggled to get through this record, it never really gripped me. The guitarwork in parts were pretty decent. I feel the vocal were really rough/scratchy and the production didn’t help to improve them. I don’t see myself coming back to this record. Standout Tracks: The Inefficiency of Emotion, Victims of Mathematics
@JRGComedy Wheeler Walker Jr. - Redneck Shit JRGComedy told me I will either find this a fun or torturous listen, the end result, a mixture of both. There were moments where the lyrics were just so and and grating I felt like turning it off, however some of the guitar and instrumentation is really great. Some of lyrics do make for a fun song as well. This isn’t something I would recommend or come back to however. Standout Tracks: Beer Weed Cooches, Can’t Fuck You Off My Mind
@Colin Your Enthusiasm Toy Cars-Paint Brain When I heard I got paired with Colin I knew I would likely get something I would really enjoy. Colin and I often recommend each other stuff and I always enjoy what he sends my way. This album is probably my favourite out of anything I have been recommended in the CMCS The album starts with title track “Paint Brain” a short but energetic song that does a fantastic job of catching your attention immediately. It starts with in my opinion a pretty powerful lyric “Shy away /You let your guard down/But I don't have the steady hands to make this shot count” the first time I heard that they certainly had my full attention. This leads into the second and my personal favourite track “Cold”, like the title track it opens with a powerful and for me super relatable lyric “I will lie wide awake /The ceiling will stare right back with a subtle shake” this year I have had a lot of restless night and this lyric really hit home. The vocals in this song are extremely emotional and chilling, making it extremely powerful. This album features the strongest string of songs on an album in 2018 so far with “Leaving a/B”, “Iron Me Out” and “Track 7” ironically also being track 7 on the album. I could listen to these 3 songs over and over again and never get bored. They are all so uniquely different in style but flow so damn well together while acting as a transition in the back half of the record. This string of songs is a definite highlight of the album for me. I still spin this album almost daily and consider it an early contender for a spot on my Top 20 of 2018 list. It’s pretty cool that the drummer Mike @MikeTC stumbled upon chorus after finding posts by @Colin Your Enthusiasm and @teebs41 and made an account. Standout Tracks: Cold, Leaving a/B, Iron Me Out, Track 7
Hmm...do you use Apple Music? The Park album is on mine but I know sometimes Canada and US stuff doesn’t match up
