good review for the best Cursive album. Happy Hollow is pretty good too, band did change though they used a lot of horns on that album instead of the cello.

State Faults Resonate/Desperate 2013 My pal @js977 and I exchanged one album this week. I had never heard of this band before, but I know that @js977 and I have a lot of overlapping musical tastes, so I was looking forward to diving into this album. I did a little research on State Faults, but I didn't find much information (basically they didn't have a Wikipedia page so I stopped looking). From what I can tell, Resonate/Desperate is their second (and most recent) full-length. I also found that they're based out of California. When I hit play, I could tell almost immediately that this album was going to be right up my alley. Musically, the album sounds great - I'd consider it to be somewhere in the post-hardcore spectrum. Some of the songs and vocal delivery have a bit of a punk influence to them, but I wouldn't classify State Faults as a punk band. For the most part, these songs are really heavy. Most of the vocals on this album are screamed and the best adjective that I can think of to describe the vocals would be harsh. If someone does not like screaming in their music, I can't see them liking this album at all. Personally, I think it was very well done. I did have trouble understanding the majority of the lyrics, so I looked them up and followed along during my second listen. I'd say that if someone was a fan of heavy music with lots of screaming then they'd probably be a fan of State Faults. I can hear some similarities to Underoath at parts and there were a couple moments during the album that I was reminded the slightest bit of Deafheaven when it came to the vocals. I really enjoyed this album a lot and I look forward to giving it some more listens and going back to check out their debut full-length! I'm not sure how active this band has been in the past 4+ years, but they seem like they'd be a blast to see live. My favorite tracks so far are the opener Meteor (gets the album off to a fantastic start), Wildfires, and Diamond Dust. It's a pretty quick listen at just under 40 minutes, so if anything that I've said above has you interested, check out at least those tracks that I just mentioned! I knew that @js977 would come through with an awesome recommendation! @iCarly Rae Jepsen I will have my write-up on Violent Femmes ready to post on Monday!
@Kennedy showed my review of their album to one of the members of The Moon Runners and he was flattered. So one of these bands now knows about CMCS lol
Okay I'll be listening to Threads by Now Now and @Joe4th will be listening to Whatever And Ever Amen by Ben Folds Five
@Nate_Johnson and I have decided on trades I gave him: Toy Cars- Paint Brain Taking Back Sunday- Happiness Is... He gave me: Waterparks-Entertainment Tiny Moving Parts- Swell
Made me smile to see you liked it! State Faults are the reincarnation of Brother Bear who had a couple EPs a while ago. A few of em are now in Slow Bloom, who just put out a more punky EP, and allegedly there may be more state Faults in the future. Also we have the same favorite tracks. Outro To Wildfires is one of my favorite music moments of the past 5 years. I’ll have yours up tomorrow!
