eh? "Love is love, who give a fuck? (give a fuck!) Girl on girl, they like "yup" But when it's man on man they like "yuck" Motherfuckers need be gone with that shit Bitch, we ain't playing along, ain't no skits" "Boy on boy, girl on girl Like who the fuck you like Fuck the world" "Transgenders are people So I'ma treat 'em equal"
I personally don't understand wanting someone to not rec a genre that you're not that into Like since the whole point is to get into new stuff you wouldn't listen to otherwise isn't it better to be recommended something you're not as familiar with or not as into so that you can have your taste challenged and potentially pick up on something new? Idk
That's why I get pumped when people recommend me pop punk and stuff because there's next to zero chance I would listen to it otherwise and now I get a chance to listen to it and discover things to like about the albums that get chosen for me
I’m all for trying new music and I have tried really hard to get into rap but I guess I don’t “get it”. Recommend me all the rap in the world and I will listen to it and keep an open mind the entire time. You are right, that is what is great about this group in that it allows us to find new music we would have never heard on our own and even possibly fall in love with something we never would have even given a second thought to.
So like 3 weeks late, I’m slowly going to post my reviews. From @Kiana, Rina Sawayama- RINA Kiana said that Rina does the 90s/00s Britney/*NSYNC style of bubblegum pop and goddamn right off the bat it’s apparent. This isn’t a knock, btw, I’m a sucker for excellent pop music. The whole album takes me back to that period and makes me feel very nostalgic. However, it’s not a straight rip off or anything as it still very much feels like a modern album. I really love the groove of “Take Me As I Am”. Thanks for the rec! Sorry for being so late
okay @mescalineeyes gave me Hundreth-Rare B-sides and La Bouquet -Heavy Sunshine, I'll probably listen to the whole Hundreth album because I'm an overachiever He'll be listening to Christina Aguilera-Bionic and Scissor Sisters-Scissor Sisters
I don’t understand coming into a thread that’s specifically about listening to albums you wouldn’t choose for yourself and saying “don’t rec me this entire diverse genre.” Also idk if this was a joke (I am bad at reading sarcasm on the interwebz) but saying you don’t like rap except for the one famous white rapper is really...iffy Edit: not trying to come at anyone. For context, I’m a huge rap fan, I make hip hop music myself, and most if not all the albums I’ve rec’d here have been rap.
see that's what I'm trying to save you from, I don't like that album, but for some reason the b-sides are extremely good?
if you want extra credit and want to listen to more Hundredth type stuff, go for either the latest Turnover record or The Acrobat by Death of Lovers.
One of these days I’m just gonna rec @bradsonemanband @mescalineeyes and @Craig Manning albums to everyone
@mescalineeyes upcomign album is one of my 2018 most anticipated. Right up there with la dispute, mwY and pianos.
