Fuck it. The Definitive Albums list was fun and I return to it quite often, so why not try for a Definitive Films list? Credit to @phaynes12 for laying out some rules that will carry over here. It's pretty simple: rank your top 50 films of all-time. They can be your favorites, what you consider to be objectively the best, they can be your choice for most underrated, however you choose to interpret it. Just rank 50 films. Points will be assigned in reverse order (#1 album gets 50 points/#50 gets 1). We can base the final number of films featured on the list on how many unique nominations we receive. Post your lists here (or send them to me if necessary), tag anyone who might like to participate, and get those picks in by December 23rd so I can put it together over the holiday weekend. And most of all, have fun dunking on each others' picks! 'Tis the season!

Oh crap, I'd really have to think about this. I used to love Fincher, Nolan, PTA, Coen bros, etc., but after coming out as a trans woman two years ago, I really had to re-evaluate what kinds of films (and filmmakers/actors/etc) really matter to me, not to mention how the Horror Thread on here has really influenced my tastes these last couple years. If I were to do this even just five years ago it would've been vastly different, I imagine.
I'm probably gonna start with my Letterboxd ratings, then my personal collection, and finally any lists submitted prior to mine to throw into bias sorter for something concrete.
50 does feel kind of like a lofty goal, but 25 also seems too low. I think if anyone can hit 50, the folks on this site can.
Here's an unranked top 150 that I did earlier in the year. https://letterboxd.com/georgedcc/list/top-150-feature-length-films/ Can try and whittle that down to 50 and ordered when I have a bit of time.
man this is hard. 50 is so few, it's helping me be more decisive about which films mean more to me though I guess, haha. I think there's a few I need to re-watch.
Appreciate the tag! As everyone has previously mentioned, this is a tough one. What immediately comes to mind: 1. There Will Be Bloood 2. Before Sunset 3. Brick 4. The Piano Teacher 5. Zodiac / The Exorcist 6. Inglorious Basterds 7. The Social Network 8. Citizen Kane 9. Goodfellas 10. The Grand Budapest Hotel 11. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 12. Eyes Wide Shut 13. Suspiria (either) 14. The Elephant Man 15. The Death of Stalin 16. Hereditary 17. Personal Shopper 18. Scenes from a Marriage 19. Pulp Fiction 20. La La Land Everything after this is fucking difficult.
I'm mentally breaking it down into categories and I'm just like... there are so many lesbian films I haven't seen.
