If Bruce doesn't win now I'm gonna cry voter fraud for weeks on end and throw a fit anytime someone asks me for evidence
we mentioned earlier in the thread we would do 75 for first, 25 for 50th like i said, i have a little more than half the way to go to catch up, so it could shake out closer to this, but this is pretty wildly different than what i have right now. thrice, for example, isn’t remotely close to cracking into the top tier.
This is my result with 75 for top and for 26 for 50th, bit surprised by first place 1 The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace is There - 1065 2 Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run - 1043 3 The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound - 1037 4 Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit - 1006 5 Carly Rae Jepsen - Emotion - 991 6 Fleetwood Mac - Rumours - 872 7 Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - 850 8 Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism - 830 9 Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - 821 10 Jimmy Eat World - Clarity - 770 11 Bon Iver - 22, A Million - 764 12 Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This To Memory - 757 13 Jimmy Eat World - Futures - 711 14 Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly - 689 15 My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge - 671 16 The Menzingers - On the Impossible Past - 670 17 Taylor Swift - Red - 656 18 Bon Iver - Bon Iver - 646 19 Blink 182 - Blink 182 - 634 20 The National - Trouble Will Find Me - 594 21 Say Anthing - Is a Real Boy - 591 22 Thrice - Vheissu - 571 23 Radiohead - Kid A - 563 24 Frank Ocean - Blonde - 546 25 Nas - Illmatic - 538 26 Death Cab For Cutie - Plans - 531 27 Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning - 526 28 The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds - 521 29 Radiohead - OK Computer - 520 30 Kanye West - Yeezus - 514 31 Radiohead - In Rainbows - 504 32 Julien Baker - Sprained Ankle - 498 33 Prince - Purple Rain - 476 34 My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade - 470 35 Weezer - Blue Album - 468 36 Thursday - Full Collapse - 467 37 The Beatles - Abbey Road - 465 38 The Format - Dog Problems - 462 39 Lorde - Melodrama - 462 40 Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher - 456 41 Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends - 453 42 Phoebe Bridgers - Stranger in the Alps - 447 43 Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica - 441 44 The 1975 - I like it when you sleep - 440 45 Counting Crows - August and Everything After - 437 46 Joni Mitchell - Blue - 431 47 Weezer - Pinkerton - 430 48 Dangerous Summer - Reach for the Sun - 428 49 Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American - 428 50 mewtihoutYou - Brother, Sister - 417 51 Cursive - The Ugly Organ - 413 52 Jason Isbell - Southeastern - 407 53 Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come - 403 54 Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell - 390 55 The Wonder Years - Suburbia, I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothing - 379 56 The Hotelier - Goodness - 376 57 Defrtones - White Pony - 374 58 Tegan and Sara - The Con - 371 59 Paramore - After Laughter - 366 60 Elliott Smith - Either/Or - 364 61 Kate Bush - Hounds of Love - 356 62 Manchester Orchestra - Mean Everything to Nothing - 354 63 Julien Baker - Turn Out the Lights - 352 64 Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town - 352 65 Madvillain - Madvillainy - 352 66 Nick Drake - Pink Moon - 348 67 Kacey Musgraves - Golden Hour - 347 68 Coheed & Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 - 346 69 Against Me! Kate Bush's Hounds of Love already has more points than what you gave and I'm not even halfway done counting
I know that's an unofficial ranking and the real one will look different, but if you had me guess the top 5 ranking hip-hop albums I'd have gotten the first 4 on the first try....and then guessed about 20 before I guessed Madvillain. That's not a shot or anything. It's awesome. But I had no idea it was held in that kind of esteem until this thread.
i’m gonna finish my list. it wouldn’t be shocking but i would be pretty surprised if the top 2 albums as it stands now are not in the top 10 when it’s finished.
so you're saying to pimp a butterfly won the popular vote but the hotelier got more electoral college votes huh
If the chart is chronological in the order of which the ballots were posted, then it looks like TPAB didn't show up on the last 15 ballots at all, while The Hotelier got five top-10 rankings in that last 15. As the election showed us, the order you count votes in matters! At least in terms of how things can turn out different than they look early on. Not that surprised The Hotelier is the winner. Definitely seems like the truest "consensus" album we've had around the site in the past decade.
the hotelier and carly rae jepson both drew the popular vote, but the hotelier won more electoral college votes
It's mad (to me anyway) that there's 2 albums in the top 10 that I hadn't even heard of before this thread.
The Hotelier and Jack's Mannequin. I have since looked them up and given them a listen and understood why I hadn't heard of them haha. Nothing against them, it's just a type of music I have very little interest in.
voter fraud! those albums are very very big on this website/ap haha i don’t really like or care about either of them
