still planning on tossing up a list but it's sent me down memory lane lol taking way longer than expected
Ditto. Isis is like intense metal, right? What's Drive Like Jehu's deal? Not having heard a Can record is becoming one of my bigger sins.
i wouldn’t say isis is “intense.” it’s kind of post metal. a lot of it is super melodic instrumental stuff. the vocals can definitely be heavy at times though drive like jehu is very old school post hardcore. not dissimilar from fugazi. the same songwriting pair as hot snakes and the guitarist from rocket from the crypt
Ah that makes sense. I definitely had the wrong idea about their vibe then. Cool. I can get down with melodic metal. I have never listened to Fugazi, Hot Snakes, or Rocket from the Crypt...
Honestly the biggest hurdle has been that nobody ever seems to agree on their best record so I never really knew where to start. They have 3 albums listed just in this thread.
fugazi don't mean as much to me as they did when I was younger haha and I'm not 100% sure they'd be your thing anyway but my vote is "steady diet of nothing"
Drive Like Jehu is great for the music and their historic place in the music scene first off, BUT it's also the band that Mark Trombino came from and he has had a hand in so many albums that this website loves. PLUS he has a donut shop in LA.
You can thank my dad for that. Some of my earliest memories of music are tied to those two acts. Getting to see EWF live with my whole family was an awesome treat.
I'm so jealous. I haven't gotten to see them yet. I hope we have shows again while they're still up to touring.

If you want to hear just one song: Waiting Room One whole album: Repeater After this you will have the basic idea and can decide if you want to go on from there. Future albums expand the sound but if you don't like those mentioned above the band probably isn't for you. Just my opinion as someone who likes but does not love Fugazi.
I like The Argument most. also generally like live Fugazi a lot and their live archive is an awesome experience for any music fan Fugazi Live Series: A to Z
Fugazi were incredibly consistent, they don’t have anything close to a bad record, so any of their albums would be a good choice for a first listen.
They are not in order of preference, but they are the ones that would save from a fire. Is there a Spanish group, sorry, if that bothers. 01. GREGORY PORTER - Liquid Spirit 2.
