I think I’m happy with my pick for this new round. It’s a band that has been used a couple of times now but I think it’s strong enough that I’mma let that slide.

Lmao at @Crisp X "Goodbye Sky Harbor' but make it indie-folk

    What a weird-ass round

  3. I used "Flim" but Aphex Twin for this round in a different league and it didn't perform well unfortunately, great song though. Went with something a little more Chorus-friendly here that would have been my original pick if it had fit the vibes of the other league

I'm tempted to test out one of the open leagues. Could be fun or a massive train wreck

Haha I didn’t know what to say this round. I either liked the song and thought it didn’t fit the prompt or disliked the song and voted for it :crylaugh:

  6. I know it’s probably just a goof up, but I like to think that the Paul Simon pick broke bobsheiskawy’s mind so hard that all he could type was The

  7. Word! Yeah just to be clear I’m not hating lol you do you my man, it’s just something I’ve thought about once a week since basically last fall so figured it was time to ask

I didn't write anything because this round was pretty ridiculous and I just would have gone off on a tangent.

I've done a couple open leagues and what I found both times is that almost no one was commenting or adding commentary so they were very faceless. That obviously could just have been the specific ones I did. It was kinda fun though, knowing absolutely nothing about your audience

I am currently in a few. I could care less about the commentary. It’s just another great way to discover new music.

Do they mostly pick mainstream stuff?

There are so many choices to choose from as far as leagues. You can go indie or popular.

I did a Beatles league, which was in theory to pick deep cuts for hardcore fans, and I think about 70% of the group did exactly that whereas the other 30% went full obvious. I won that league by a fair margin, I think a bit part is because I was the only person adding commentary to my picks and it could have swayed people. I also did a Covers league which was pretty fun, and actually heard a fair amount of covers I had never heard before among the different rounds. You still get Hurt multiple times though, haha, so it's a mix

I’ve done a bunch of open leagues and they’re very hit or miss. I always just go with the stuff I like that fits the prompt and hope I give artists I like a few new fans. I don’t actively try to win the leagues, unless I’m at or near the top with only a few rounds to go.

  17. With random leagues I’d probably be more prone to submit very niche stuff. I see all of you enough around the site that I’m under no impression y’all actually need music recommendations haha. Everyone here already has good taste and actively listens to new or underground (as much as anything can be “underground” in 2024) music - putting someone onto an artist that I like is a secondary effect of league imo

I’m trying to fit the “underground” band Knocked Loose into this league.

I actually am really looking forward to this 90s playlist.

I could’ve dug deeper, but a song near and dear to me immediately jumped into my mind and I couldn’t change my pick. Could play a whole season of just 90s deep cuts, easily.
