Switchfoot are an interesting band. Probably one of the biggest contemporary christian acts of all time but fell off pretty hard once the boom of christian music fizzled out. I believe they are still going though. Good for them.

    That song was overplayed though.

I can't even read the Wikipedia about Switchfoot in peace without getting a work phone call, these people don't understand my priorities

I like a few Switchfoot songs, but I still currently enjoy nearly all Relient K and House of Heroes.

I had a buddy who wasn’t allowed to listen to “real” music, so he listened to a ton of Hawk Nelson and Third Day.

No real music would include bands like Underoath, Norma Jean, etc. and that is cool as hell.
    Playing devils advocate.

The only "religious-only music" (as opposed to religious songs from "secular artists") I was into growing up was, like, Mary Mary and Kirk Franklin, but I never really saw "urban contemporary gospel" as part of that other Christian music scene

You must not know any vaccinista tote bag chic baristas, sitting east on their communista keisters?

It's a shame the new TSwift album didn't drop before this round went live. Those lyrics are

What angle are people rocking with next week? I'm kind of stumped to be honest because if I don't like a song musically, I usually don't keep it around.

Yeah, that part rules and Anthony sounds great on it, but actually looking at the lyrics it's like someone who is progressive/anticapitalist curious smoked weed for the first time and started trying to wax poetic:

    Uprising within us
    A sense of total disillusion
    About what we're made of
And where we want to be
It's not so important to collect
As many things as we can
    Before our time is up
Our life is more than a side effect
We must learn to be lost graciously
    We become everything we criticize
    Light gives way
    Shadows peel open our eyes
    Blinding us within

Yeah, that's where I'm stumped too. I'm trying to think of songs by bands where I like their lyrics generally, but they tried to experiment or something and went way off the mark.

Sometimes I find lyrics I wrote as a teen and it is painful

I've already got my song picked out for next round. It wasn't terribly hard but I can see how a lot would struggle with it as people don't actively listen to bad songs and the lyrics can play second fiddle.

Yeah, that's ultimately why I switched. They're bad, but for rock music not especially terrible.

  17. Same but I'm starting to think I screwed up with my pick lol. I'll get it right on the next round!

just wanted to quickly do a little "read the prompt" reminder. I know everything is up to interpretation, but I did try with these to make it clear that it's songs you LIKE the music or lyrics better, not neccesarily that something is BAD

Right I did understand that, but I feel like loving the song but hating the lyrics is the 100% version of that lol

Totally agree! I just was trying to help with people who can't think of something because they don't hate the music of songs they like, ya know?
