Dang I should’ve submitted that Dangerous Summer song where he says “she lets me go in her mouth”

I haven’t listened to the playlist but have glanced at the artists. I’m kind of surprised there weren’t any religious songs. In my Christian days I used to listen to a decent amount of Christian indie music. I occasionally revisit some songs for nostalgia sake and some of the songs have abominable lyrics but have great instrumentation, musicianship, and songwriting.

What's bad about the Work lyrics? Apart from that working sucks of course :crylaugh:

I was going to use one but felt like religious lyrics are too obvious. There is lyric rhyming as well which is pretty annoying in my book.

The American Christian music industry/world a as a whole is so wild to me

It’s was huge in the ‘00s and still exits today but nowhere near as big

Contemporary Christian music is pretty bad and every song pretty much sounds like this

It’s always funny to me how big of a difference there somehow is between “rappers that are Christian” and that also have some religious songs/themes and “Christian rappers” and their songs

My other main reference point for “American Christian music” (excl. gospel) is the South Park episode in which Cartman starts a Christian band

This band was Christian too I believe and I remember getting played on the radio a lot.

Not to get ahead of myself, but I have absolutely no idea what I’m picking for the next round.

There are like two Christian rappers that have a few songs I like, one of them is long gone and I can’t find his name right now, and the other one is Lecrae, though he has distanced himself from that description at some point. I love however plenty of “religious songs” by rappers that are Christians lol

Never heard of them, sick band name

It is funny because a lot of these bands toured with Chorus favorites like Third Eye Blind.

Yeah that’s one of the interesting things, the bands that crossover into the secular versions of their scenes or whatever

Pretty sure Glen Phillips was raised Jewish, but they do have a philosophical/spiritual lean to a lot of their lyrics.

    Also, this song rules:

Dammit, now I am going down the rabbit hole of contemporary Christian that was popular.

  23. Same. I've been trying to brainstorm since I first saw the themes for this season and I still haven't come up with anything that feels like it hits the mark.

  24. Damn, I LOVE this song lol would never have picked it up for a round like this. NOTHING IS SACRED

Lol, remembered The 1975 and Matty singing "I always used to burst into her hand" after the fact. Lyrics on that track are awful

  25. Funny story about mainstream Christian rock. When I was in middle school, I did a science fair project on whether music helped plants grow (I was a little kid). Anyways, one of the genres I was using was worship music (thanks mom) and the local Christian station invited me on air to talk about my experiment. Afterwards, the guy was like "You can pick a CD to take with you on the way out!" I was like "Do you have any Switchfoot?" and he immediately snapped back, tone totally changed, "We're all out of Switchfoot. EVERYBODY asks for Switchfoot." lmao

Anyways, the riff in this (the verses, not the intro) still goes pretty hard and makes me think of Hum or something
