I think a supergroup can be “super” within a scene but not big outside of it, it’s still a supergroup
I have so many bands that I would consider supergroups but most outside of certain circles would not or even know who they are (not that the second part matters).
My pick was universally understood to be a supergroup within their (sub)genre, but only one of the members actually became a general audience star (some might say pop star), and more so after the group than before (but not because of it).
I’m a little bit like this with him too. Also with anyone that sounds… for lack of a better term… too “Hamilton-y”, haha. It’s what took me so long to get into McKinley Dixon and why I still have a tough time with Shad
Haha yeah. I do the marketing for a theater festival for young/new performing artists and a too many of the ones that fall under “theater” (rather than dance and so in) somehow constantly feel the need to rap. I call it theater rap. They usually suck real hard Hamilton really did some damage.
I actually saw Pete front his other band. They were actually pretty good. Patrick filled in on drums here and Joe on guitar.
I'm not sure their former bands were notable enough to count. Most bands are formed from the ashes of multiple shitty garage bands but that doesn't make them supergroups
Oh so now you are making up silly rules @irthesteve ? Pretty much the reason I didn't post any hardcore groups. Racetraitor were and still are a pretty great hardcore band that Pete was in and Andy Hurley is still a member of. Also, I guess hardcore is considered "shitty garage bands" now. Either way, in my book they still count.
Yeah I mean it can count for you lol it's obviously subjective (and also who cares) but I'm with Steve and Spo here. I was aware of Arma Angelus, but personally I wouldn't consider any of the previous bands big enough to lend to Fall Out Boy being a supergroup
Why does it read like this argument is more hostile than it needs to be, this is supposed to be fun... no? Personally I don't care about the points, ranking or anything, I'm just here to share stuff I love and that is potentially new to someone and vice versa. Also learn why x song means so much to anyone etc.
