Yes you can submit songs produced by Will Yip

 

I have 3 albums that immediately come to mind, and actually listened to one of them last week, so I think I am picking from that album

 

I also had three albums come to mind, but production is such a touchy thing with people that I’m having trouble picking one! Had a fourth record come to mind that feels like a sure fire pick for this community, but it’s not a record I actually even like and that feels wrong

I thought of a lot of 00s mixtape tracks. Almost all of them aren’t on Spotify, but I did manage to find one, and it has the same terrible quality as it did back then.

 

I like that we not only had the same first artist, but the same backup

 

Yeah, I’m trying to find the line that still shows there’s a discernible artist underneath. Lots of black metal that sounds awful and is awful lol

 

I went with the first thing that came to mind, which does happen to be produced by Will Yip even though I think most Will Yip production is actually good.

 

I’m also teetering on the idea of submitting that is technically “proficient” but that I don’t like the sound of, the self-titled TBS for example. Or Eric Valentine’s drum tones in general.

 

I’ll muddy the water and admit that one of the first records I thought of is a Will Yip produced record, and I haven’t decided yet whether or not I’ll pick it

I think the Will Yip Menzingers records sound great so I can’t pick them

 

I don’t mind them, I was being a dork lol. Tbh, After the Party is probs my fav-sounding album of theirs, maybe tied with Rented World.

 

I had two albums that I love immediately come to mind and wound up picking from a third, excited to name those first two once votes are in though

 

I’m gonna get no points this round lol

 

Minimum Wage is totally NOT an Interlude @Nate_Johnson ! TMBG play it live often, and not just as part of a full-album set! They're just .... that weird/quirky lol

I get it if it didn't do anything for you though.

 

I think they might have made the song sound better since I last heard it on Spotify. Ah well. I can’t think of anything else.

 

I love Flood, but the disparity of production quality between the singles and deep cuts on that album would make an interesting submission for this week too!

 

Feel like there’s gonna be some strong opinions about which submissions do/don’t match the theme this week

 

This week is very subjective

 

Ok I landed on a pick. Would not be shocked if someone picked the same artist or even the same album.

 

I am making a bet someone picks St. Anger

Yeah this week is tough, because I'm sure there's some songs with bad production which were an artistic decision by the band themselves. I'm going for a song which I personally which was more cleanly produced.

 

There’s a lot of bands from our scene whose first albums sounded like ass too. Back when bands got 2-3 albums to warm up.
