Just listened to this week’s playlist and it’s comical how quickly it flew by.

 

Imagine if the next prompt was Long Songs, we would need an extra week to listen to the playlist

 

I hit play when I left my driveway to go to Starbucks this AM, and it was over before I got home lol

 

Minimum 8 minute songs

 

I’m in a league where it’s two songs every week. Ugh

 

I got through the playlist three times and voted between the time I woke up this morning and noon lol

Do I maybe need to hear this whole J Dilla record for context purposes?

Because all I hear is 49 seconds of a chopped-up/reworked version of "The New Style" by Beasties...

 

Yeah, that’s totally an intro track, haha

 

That's kinda what the J Dilla record is. Most of the songs are under three minutes and are sample-based instrumentals. He was one of the best to ever do it

 

Yeah, he wasn’t a rapper. What you’re hearing on that track is pretty representative of the album and much of his work otherwise.

Oof well if that’s the case I hereby rescind my comment on that song where I pledged to dive deeper into their music

 

That situation is muddy as hell, I was mostly making a joke even though I don't listen to them anymore, not trying to sway votes lol I was just shocked

 

If I recall, he basically cancelled himself for undisclosed reasons then when he came back to music the person involved said they weren't satisfied with his apology? I never cared for his music but definitely remember it being a very weird situation

 

They were gonna go to the Pinegrove show
They didn't know about all the weird stuff

Having trouble thinking of good albums with bad production for the next theme

 

Same, this is the first week I’m going to have to sit down and actually look through my library.

 

I have one idea that I'll probably go with, but I'm also wondering if we can use songs that deliberately sound a way that wouldn't traditionally be considered "good" production.
