Yeah, you could pick a lot of silly tracks or if you dig a little deeper there are some fun and actually really good short songs.
Submitted a song. After all my complaining, I did end up having a handful to choose from but the others were from bands who have already been used so I decided not to use any of those. Still, this was a nightmare round and there were no songs I was excited about potentially using!
My initial thought when I saw this round was to pull from this album but I had a lot of trouble choosing a song as they all sound so similar and none of them mean a thing to me, although I do really enjoy it.
Yeah, I love the whole thing but it's hard to nail down a specific track to represent the whole of it since it's such a unique experiment.
I’m kind of suprised the song I submitted this week wasn’t already taken. But at the same time I don’t think it’s gonna do very well.
I'm pretty impressed, only 3 of these are on my own personal short song playlist, 2 songs from the same artist and the rest are all new to me!
@Patterns in Traffic I also played the Jackson 5 song in a cover band. Truly have never felt like more eyes have ever been on me to get a bass line right than when playing that in a set. It’s iconic lol. Glad you had fun learning and playing it!
Loved this playlist. Very fun. Helps that the songs are short but this is the most I've spread out my points.
You can tell some people struggled this round but there is honestly some great stuff in the playlist.
My song has a bit of a production flub at the end - didn’t realize its ending literally bridged into the next track on the album instead of smoothly faded so ignore that hard cut off plz
Great picks: (Mine), Mannequin Pussy, They Might Be Giants, Bo Burnham, J Dilla, illuminati hotties, and AJJ (begrudgingly) Whoever picked J Dilla, we were on the same wavelength. Also, seems to be controversial but Tierra Whack doing the same vocal melody over and over on that track is kind of grating to me lol
Haha so true. I had to prepare for a 30-song set in like a week, thankfully I was already familiar with most of them. I started with the stuff I already knew pretty well, and left the songs that were new to me for last. I'm pretty sure "I Want You Back" was the very last song I worked on and as soon as I put it on I realized I made a huge mistake haha. I'm pretty sure that one and "That Thing You Do" made up at least half of the total time I practiced for that gig. Fun songs though!
