  1. Quadruple-post, but I had to take a break after the N.W.A. cover...jesus christ, guys. Mission accomplished I guess lol

  3. Have always loved Person L for being Ken’s outlet to play with the influences he may have struggled to include in The Starting Line’s music, but yeah that Roots cover is rough lol. From day one I struggled with that one

Are we supposed to vote for the songs we like or the ones that sound the worst? Lol

The ones that you could see aging poorly, or the most compelling writing

Everyone has their own rule for how they vote. I tend to give most points to songs I enjoy and would return to. I haven’t heard this week yet but I imagine it’ll be the same

  7. Typically, I give one point if I like the song, another if I love it, and another if I think it's a great fit for the prompt. That's a little different this season because of how tight points are. But for this round, I'm doing one point if I liked the song in high school, a point if I agree it sucks now (whether or not I was familiar), and a point if I think it REALLY sucks/was a great fit lol

You should be voting for the songs that you think fit the prompt best. You can't just simply vote for your favorite songs if they don't even fit the prompt, or I would just submit Freebird every round

Points go to songs that best fit the prompt, and then (in most rounds) the songs being good serves as a tiebreaker/earns additional points. For a round where things are explicitly supposed to be bad, it would be bad voting to give points for good songs. If someone had submitted "I Can't Make You Love Me" or "Yesterday" or whatever this round and you gave points to it, that would be stupid and counterproductive to the point of the round.

This round, I'm starting by assuming everyone actually liked the song they submitted before and has since learned they were wrong (as opposed to someone just finding a bad song they never really liked), so my votes are going to the songs that are bad today and I can at least kind of hear how someone liked it before (my own prior awareness of the song mostly isn't factoring in).

Peeps can dole out points however they please. It’s just a music recommendation game—I’m not getting mad about why someone submits a song or how they vote. It’s not that serious

Agreed it's not that serious, but it's not really a music recommendation game (at least, not the way we've been doing it). The whole thing is built around prompts, and the point is to submit songs that match the prompts. Recommendations/discovery beyond that are great benefits of playing, but it's not the main objective in most rounds.

Maybe not your objective but it’s probably mine. The prompts are a fun direction but not the focus for me. I joined the league to share and discover stuff

what's the point of having prompts at all then? why not just 10 rounds of "submit a song you like"?

I think you can treat it like a music discovery tool and also vote in a way that respects the prompts.

Yeah, this is essentially what I do. If I like something and it’s totally off-prompt, I may or may not give it a point. It depends on how much I like the song/how irrelevant it is to the prompt. The songs have to at least make sense, but again I’m pretty liberal with how I interpret the prompts anyway.

  18. Gonna be honest I just go off vibes and don’t spend that much time thinking about it. It is just a fun thing to pick songs for. It isn’t that serious.

I start off with the premise that everything deserves a point and then I either take away if I (really) don't like it or it (really) doesn't fit the prompt, and add points if I love it or it perfectly nailed the prompt.

I recently tried to revisit that album after years, I couldn't finish it. The follow up was honestly pretty good though

It reminds me of a very specific time in my life when I was dating someone and she'd listen to that album, the first All Time Low EP and a few other things that directly transport me to that year or so
