Gotta be honest. I misunderstood the prompt as a free-for-all round, had a moment of "ah fuck" as I was writing, then said "fuck it" and posted anyway. I now know exactly what I would have done instead but I'm keeping my mouth shut about it because it'll work somewhere else in the future I'm sure.

Okay thanks. I think I get the gist of it. Kind of jealous of the chaos round. I would have had a hard time with so many songs I would have wanted to submit.
Feel like @imthegrimace should be in here Also feel like we will probably need two leagues considering we were already at 24(?) people. If @irthesteve and folks are in general agreement, I can create the Google form for topic suggestions and threads. Get the ball rolling and take the first dozen or so folks who want to come in.
I’m personally really against two parallel but identical leagues, I think if we cap at 25 it is fine, we’ve always had people leave and join and managed to stay around that number
Being in one league and not the other will give me fomo. So I prefer one league—but I defer to whatever others think. I don’t mind the longer playlists personally. I’m of the mindset that the more music to listen to, the better.
Solution might be to have one league specifically capped at 15, so there's a "Short League" (new one) and a "Long League" (this one). People can sign up for their preference and if folks have FOMO and want to join both leagues provided there are spots available, they can. I just know it's getting very difficult (personally) to get through 25-track playlists and wanting to leave comments when I can, especially when there are folks not participating every round. Perhaps that's just a me problem, though.
Alternate idea, we can shift the length of a round to be longer. 2 days to submit your song then 7 whole days to listen to the playlist. There is a setting you can have it, so that you can set windows like that BUT if everyone finishes before the deadline, then the new round starts. That leads to things like rounds starting at weird times, but I think it could be a good solution so everyone can move at their pace with a long playlist.
I am good for whatever solution people like most. I would also ask, very kindly and respectfully, that if we don't create a second league, and you're someone who find themselves constantly missing deadlines/never voting...maybe reconsider if you have the time and interest to participate. Again, truly meant to be a respectful ask. It just makes it tougher for folks who like to leave comments when the playlists are longer than they need to be, especially as we are approaching 30+ players.
This will be my first music league so I just want to be able to participate. Some random thoughts for rounds: 1. A song from "X" record label (Sub Pop, 4AD, etc. maybe a popular vote for which record label wants to be used? Or maybe have a couple different weeks to showcase different labels y'all love?) 2.A song that makes you faceplant and disassociate round 3. A song that makes you want to fight someone 4. Bands who never made it: Bands/artists who never released a full length before calling it quits: only demos, EPs, mixtapes, singles. (Could be found on a posthumous compilation if only available on streaming) 5. Wait, they did that song? Songs you could have sworn were by another artist. 6. Songs that move you spiritually but are in a different language so you have no idea what they are saying 7. Hipster pick (remember those?): Pick a song from an album that is not the consensus fan favorite but is genuinely your favorite. (Ex: If your favorite Tom Waits album is Foreign Affairs, own that shit, pick a song and tell us why... Because it sure as hell ain't mine lol) 8. This band has a flawless discography... Except for... (Pick a song from an album that you think is bad or mediocre from a band with an otherwise stellar discography. Band should have at minimum 4 albums) 9. This bands discography is weak... Except for... (Pick a song from an album from a discography that you think that this is the artists only good album/EP/demo/etc. must have at least four releases) 10. Going out with a bang! Pick a song from an inactive/deceased artists last album that you genuinely think is their best. Are any of these ideas okay?
Hey @Jon lots of good ideas! Typically I set up a google form to submit ideas ahead of the round, I will do that again here so I can get everyone's ideas in, then the league will be built out from a collection of ideas. We've done a few of these in the past, but there's some good ones there!
