Yeah, my bad y’all I missed the deadline.

Funny that my second choice was “Closer” by Jimmy Eat World, which is one of their best tracks and easily my favorites on SOMST, and I was going to reference the NIN and T&S songs as more famous ones.

 

I also missed the deadline but I’m finally home from my road trip today so now I have time for this again lol.

I did the same round with my work league for same name, different song. Thought some of you would find it pretty interesting how different the picks are

And yes I submitted the same song haha

 

My song this round is surprisingly underperforming so far. I thought it was super solid, too. I'm still learning how to give you people what you want!

It’s tough! I can’t decide if I want to just pick a song I really like with little context or if I want to pair a song with a story or wordy caption (leaning towards the latter!)

 

I just went with a song I listen to a lot right now that doesn’t fit any category we have had lately

 

If it makes you feel any better I haven't really put general song choices to names (other than Kyle) lol

Anyhow, here's the song I intended to use for this one:

Earlier this year, I made a playlist of my favorite 50 songs of the first half of the decade. When I shared that with friends, I said that there were multiple songs that sound like the best one I've ever heard when I'm listening to them, and this is one of those songs. The writing (reflection on not giving his father a proper goodbye before a failed suicide attempt in the context of his father's own end of life) is so specific and affecting without being too direct, and the instrumental has incredible punch, dynamic, and emotion. I don't think I've ever listened to it without getting chills at least once.

 

Not enough Gang of Youths up in this league.
