Another solid pick. This was a really fun category. I just found out about music league. Such a fun concept! I'm having a great time so far.

Man I haven’t heard some of these songs in years! What a blast from the past. There’s also one on here I’m not sure I’ve ever heard - This Heart Attack by Faker.

  3. I couldn’t find it in me to not just give every song a point here. This theme was engineered for a bunch of slam dunk picks and that’s exactly what we got

The last time I had a job where I was exposed to the radio for 8 hours a day was ~2013, so stuff like that Bastille song really hits. High up on my list of alt picks were the two Zedd singles, Clarity and Stay The Night, for that same reason. Mirrors as well

Not sure if you already are, but it's worth reading the comments for each song as you are listening, or before/after listening to the playlist. For example, you'd see the Faker song is from Australian radio which makes sense

Back in eighth or ninth grade, there were one or two songs seemingly everywhere on Australian radio. One was Walking on a Dream by Empire of the Sun, which I have heard too many times to have any feeling towards. And then there was this one, which was excellent and it's sad Faker ended up being a one-hit wonder who no one really remembers.

Yeah for the most part this playlist reads/sounds like it was curated by a bunch of people who listened to only alt-rock or modern rock radio stations. Not a bad thing, cuz I guess that's what we are, but still funny.

    Alternates:

Breakfast at Tiffanys, Roll To me, If You Could Only See, Barely Breathing, The Freshmen, How Bizarre, Bittersweet Symphony, Torn, Bitch, Flagpole Sitta, Tubthumping, Sex and Candy, All For You, You Get What You Give, The Way, One Week, Save Tonight, Closing Time, She's So High, Crazy For This Girl, Absolutely (Story of a Girl)

    Yes, I have personal playlists........

  7. Roll To Me and Absolutely were considerations for me too. Narrowing down was tough, as seen by my uncharacteristically last minute submission haha

    you or your memory

One of the rock stations here still plays Roll to Me pretty regularly and I never change the channel when they do, have considered it as a karaoke song too

A lot of these are, or are close enough to, one-hit wonders and I wanted to stay away from those.

I went with one where I had a specific radio memory and not just a vague recollection of it being on the radio often/constantly.

One I considered was "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park. I remember hearing that on the radio the first time and being like "Yo! That shit is dope." And then it felt like suddenly it was everywhere.

A classic! And under 3 minutes (which is good for karaoke when you can’t really sing lol)

  13. I also tried to stay away from one hit wonders since I categorize those separately in my head. Plus we did a OHW round so picking another one felt less interesting to me.

I also have strong memories attached to hearing "One Step Closer" on the radio for the first time.

Fair point, I don't even think of the heavy overlap of one hit wonders. Luckily for me, my submission wasn't a one hit, so I probably got points from you

  16. SONGS OF THE SUMMER 2025. I would have given most of my points to Jay Som, and then a couple to Hayley and HAIM, and 0 to the rest since I don't know the others, so therefore they're not "songs of the summer" for me. (Hot take?!) And I would have submitted "Sue Me" by Audrey Hobert because that album has been on repeat for me, especially that song.

TURN UP THE RADIO. I would have given points to Third Eye Blind, Limp Bizkit, Blessid Union, Len, Matchbox 20, Sherly Crow, Goo Goo Dolls, Missy Elliott. "Iris" would have gotten most of my points because that song is just perfection and doesn't get old to me. And I probably would have submitted something like "My Own Worst Enemy" or "What's My Age Again?" cuz I'm basic. *nails emoji*

I just came up with Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses - I don't listen to the radio that often anymore but I still feel like I hear it almost every time I listen to the radio
