Very eager to find out what the themes will be for that AP.net league haha

 

I have a theme idea, but not sure how to put it concisely. Is anyone familiar with Wesley Morris' Hollywood market corrections theory? It's similar to the idea of being "Wally Pipped" in sports.

Basically Actor 1 is becoming established but then Actor 2 comes along and for some reason - more charismatic or versatile, better looking, whatever - starts getting the roles that everyone thought would go to Actor 1 and becomes the bigger, more prominent star.

I feel like there's got to be a lot of similar things in music, or at least cases where bands with similar styles and of ostensibly similar quality are coming up around the same time and for whatever reason Band 1 takes off while Band 2 fizzles out.

 

Would you want the Wally Pipp, or the Lou Gehrig?

 

I'm trying to figure out good timing. Do I worry about the two leagues overlapping or do we just assume that whoever is in both can handle two leagues?

 

I was thinking the Wally Pipp, like the hidden gems that didn’t get their shake because someone else came along and stole the spotlight.

 

I want to say the latter because people in here have expressed being able to easily handle two leagues at once in the past. But also I know burnout is a real thing too and I always find music league loses a bit of its charm when it feels like people aren’t that into it

Might be a silly thought, but our 10th season will be coming up in just a few months. A fully AP.net themed season could be a fun way to make it feel special?

 

I'm not opposed to it! I think it would be a good way to get a few other regulars to play, even if just for a season.

On the flip side though, we might lose a few regulars who don't want to be as pigeonholed on genre, we're pretty diverse for the most part. I'm building it out to be a bit of a deeper dive into that world

 

10th season could always be a re-hash of some of the best rounds from previous seasons - a fresh spin on some fan favourites.

I would love to participate in the AP.net league, but don't know if I can juggle that with this league AND the Songs From Every Year league lol

 

@Daniel is it too late to open up my Gore-Us pick to any horror host? The Last-Drive In, Elvira, Svengoolie... I'll even open it up to MST3K provided it's a horror film. Then there's no convoluted rule about having to watch two movies instead.

 

Weirdly, an AP.net-centric league would likely be much easier on me. Haha.
