My runner up was this band, just since you don’t really hear a ton of dream pop in this vein sung in different languages
While I'm not quitting the league, and I'll still run it as usual, I'm probably gonna be missing a few deadlines and playlists coming up, which is obviously no biggie but don't worry about alerting me if I'm about to miss something. My son broke his leg and I'm basically his personal servant haha, haven't listened to any music myself since he broke it
Better than I expected TBH, he gets to watch infinite TV and yell "Daddy Service!" anytime he needs something or to be carried around, so I think he's gonna be ok in the end haha
@fieldbelow you could have given what was gonna be your pick more than just 2 points and handed me the W you know
I probably should have, I’ve had that song in my head for days now! Gotta get more ruthless with my points (ruthless? What’s the right word here lol)
This playlist hit at a perfect time today while I was right about to start a project at home, so got through it pretty quickly. Liked this one a lot!
This playlist was really fun. I'm really excited for the next one. Torn because there's a certain pop-punk-adjacent sound that comes to mind when I think about THPS, but also that game introduced me to so much hip-hop. I think hearing "The World Is Yours" in Underground was my first introduction to Nas
My thoughts exactly re: the next round. It’s always been kind of funny to me that pop punk is like the main, or only, genre people think of when they think of THPS. Not that there wasn’t any of it, but I always found those OSTs to feature a pretty even spread of backpack-y hip hop, skate punk, and alt rock/nu metal stuff. Even most of the stuff that would be considered pop punk was on the less polished side. I don’t think they ever featured the typical genre poster children like Blink, New Found Glory, etc.
Yeah I don’t think pop punk stands out in particular on those soundtracks at all. Pop punk-ish ska maybe, but not actually if you look at the playlists.
Thinking about this article a lot going into this round How would you soundtrack a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game in 2020? (some of the picks have not aged well but by and large still pretty good)
I love the prompt of - "if you aren't familiar with the style of music on the soundtrack to the video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.... submit a song you'd skateboard to!" Why yes, avid skateboarder, however not familiar with aforementioned video game or its' iconic soundtracks.
I’ve narrowed down to four songs and they all have SUCH different vibes lol - might come down to some coin flips
