As a huge MM fan, I'm pretty neutral on "Float On." I respect it more than I actually enjoy it these days. Far from a bad song, though. Just never the MM single I would reach for, let alone MM songs in general.
Float On good Dashboard good too. I’m not entirely certain I’ve ever heard it prior to like an hour ago, but if the fans are saying it was a popular single I’ll take their word for it
Just noticed that In For The Kill is in there. It’s the only La Roux song I know, so assumed that was the one hit wonder. Saying that, I’ve never heard the original, only ever heard the far superior Skream remix…
The Verve definitely aren’t one hit wonders. The Drugs Don’t Work made it to number 1 whilst Bittersweet Symphony only made it to number 2. Lucky Man also made it number 7.
dashboard got a decent amount of play on the local shitty alt rock station here when it came out and I remember the video was on MTVu all the time when it came out.
Should do a no hit wonder round. I could play Bad Bunny, arguably one of the biggest names in music. In the UK, he’s never had one of his own songs reach the top 10.
Side note: We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank is easily my favorite Modest Mouse album and nothing else they've done even comes close to it in my opinion.
Also completely off topic, for anyone who liked the High Vis song I submitted in round 1, their record came out today and it rules
it's an interesting round because I think there are two angles to take. The first is what I think the main goal is, which is a modern artist who is relatively unknown, and showcasing them. I have also noticed though, that SO many scene bands or artists from 20 years ago, they have low counts now too because they are inactive and never were huge, so there are a ton of bands I used to listen to a lot that fit, but I think I am going with something more modern
I checked out the high vis record and while I liked it I think mind’s a lie is easily the stand out track
Fair take! I’m really loving the whole thing but Mind’s A Lie is definitely the only song that incorporates all of the things that it does
It’s definitely a solid record but I have a feeling instead of coming back to it as a hole I’ll be adding that song to a lot of playlists.
