If I haven't heard other songs by another artist, can I really say they are "hateable" - Ryan Cabrera comes to mind.... I think pretty much everyone knows that song - but does the submitter actually know enough Ryan Cabrera songs to be like "oh yeah, I HATE him!" .... More like just one of those one-offs that most music fans casually assume kinda stinks besides their one "big hit". It's all quite fascinating.

 

I love that Ryan Cabrera song so much lol. I don’t remember much else from that record, but his follow up The Moon Under Water is a great album that I still listen to. Shame it’s not on streaming services, thank dog for local files

 

I completely forgot about that finger eleven song but it was everywhere for a while

 

I like this playlist a lot lol I will probably listen to this 4 or 5 times this weekend at least haha.

 

This was how I came up with my pick too.

The Finger Eleven album before that one, The Greyest of Blue Skies, was legit very good.

 

I was pretty surprised to see Muse here, irrespective if their downwards slide in releases over the past few years.

 

I didn't submit that song but I really dislike Muse also, not into the outer space stadium rock thing they do

 

Very interested to see the comments when this round is done, curious to see how much of the voting came from people who also don't like the artist, but like the song, or how many votes are simply because you do like the song while also liking the artist.

 

My second pick, which I eventually opted away from, was this song. I do like a fair amount of the singles from California Girls as dumb fun, but I really hate most of her stuff, and never have been a fan.... but this song surprised me, I think it actually is really great.

 

Splitting up votes was tough here for sure. I’d say the easiest ones to kind of eliminate were the ones where I don’t really care for the artist or the song. Mid tier (like 1 point) being submissions that I like the artist and/or the song. And then multiple points to submissions I fully agree with about not caring for the artist but digging the song

 

I decided my song for tomorrow and hoo boy it’s a doozy

 

So for the next round.... I know voting is subjective anyway, but is the general consensus:

1) Vote for songs you like even though the submitter hates it?
or
2) Vote for songs that you're like "oh holy shit, yeah I really hate that song too!"?

 

Probably both for me haha.

 

For me it's, "how much I agree this fits the prompt" so basically a scale of how much I also like the artist and dislike the song

 

Personally I think we should vote for which song is the worst, irregardless of the artist, but in the end vote for whatever you want

 

But that's just "submit a bad song"

 

Damn it it turns out it only features the artist I love, it's not by the artist himself, now I am scrambling

I don't set any specific criteria. I just go in and let the songs speak to me. They'll tell me what to vote for.

Also, I have no idea what I will submit for the next round.

 

I think it's gonna be quite a funny round, definitely the hardest playlist to listen to

 

My problem is that I have a song that IMMEDIATELY came to mind as fitting, but I would also say that the artist is a fairly polarizing artist to begin with, so that could impact the votes that it may or may not get.

I could easily see some thinking "oh this is just a bad song by an also bad artist." hahaha

 

Yeah I ditched my first choice because I know from experience posting here that I’m one of the only fans that hates the song
