I was so excited for this round only to find out my pick isn’t on streaming. Oh well, making do with a cover lol.
@Gianni about your comment on my DC Talk song. I don't think DC really has a sound. They're pretty eclectic to their detriment.
Fair enough fair enough - I really was nodding my head and singing along to it lol, I thought it would be way more cringe than that for some reason.
Almost finished with this playlist - straight up, I do not have enough points lol. Well done to everybody! Feel like somebody says this every week, but this is my favorite playlist in a minute
Yeah at first glance this seems like a really cool playlist, so a preemptive great job everyone! Interesting that we got 2 songs from Shameless and I expected at least one from The Bear. Also, tangentially related, the soundtrack to the Apple TV show Bad Monkey features Tom Petty covers by a whole bunch of current artists. The full thing is out tomorrow but a lot of the songs are out already:
Got Wilson Phillips mixed up with Wilson Pickett. Got very confused when it started. This playlist is the epitome of "not for me". A couple of tracks are about to get a nice 10 points each haha
Some songs are getting points from me because I like their use in the show/movie even if I don’t necessarily love the song on its own.
Almost, almost picked Don’t Fear The Reaper, but I got way too in my head about whether that was a song I had actually heard prior to the More Cowbell sketch or not
This was my alternate. It was the theme song for a short-lived Fox sitcom called The Loop back in like 2006:
I would have never guessed that the What We Do In The Shadows song was a real song, let alone that old, I need to listen to that album
I had to get my votes in early for this one - between Balance & Composure, Wild Pink, and Caribou all coming out tonight I can’t imagine I’ll be wanting to hear much else for the next week
My alternate picks were all from Person Of Interest. The XX, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Digitalism, The Kills, The Glitch Mob, Daughter, Radiohead... That show had stellar song uses after stellar song uses and probably shaped my music tastes more than I realized at the time. I still get this one stuck in my head all the time, and was overjoyed when I heard it in Ex Machina a couple years later edit: The Day The World Went Away by NIN too! I could gush about the music found in the show for hours lol
