Seeing Julian Baker at the top, can I just say my biggest humblebrag is still that I got to cover that record and interview her for AP.net (you can find the interview on this site) and she said talking to AbsolutePunk was more exciting to her than NPR, lol. I did that shit from my college dorm and she was very kind and fun to talk to.
Ah damn. I need to just risk losing my picks and not submit before the deadline haha. I was going to switch my pick but thought I had a few more hours
my biggest humblebrag also involves julien baker, albeit it is less impressive; i recognized her - before she was popular, i might add - at a wegmans i worked at many years ago. i stalked her for a solid ten minutes until i worked up the courage to be like “..are you julien baker?” it was surreal
@Elder Lightning have fun spreading your votes across like, 5 songs hahahaa just kidding but not really
Haha that was the whole start of the convo, I stole the pick from @wisdomfordebris before they submitted
So I’m kind of glad I didn’t go for my initial choice as it would have been waay too jarring on the playlist and thought better of it. I saw Bring Me the Horizon in 2006 in my local 250 cap venue….when they were HeAveeeEy….I mean nothing like what they are now. What’s it called deathcore?
Dang the whole first half of this playlist is like Seattle 2000s indiecore. Not a bad thing, but there’s 3-4 songs in a row that might as well be the same band haha
I really thought about doing Bring Me The Horizon or From First To Last, but my past experiences of submitting -core songs dissuaded me haha
I guess I shouldn’t post at the end of my workday because for some inexplicable reason I mixed up Mitski and Phoebe Bridgers
I do wish boygenius was a collective like The Sound of Animals Fighting with just a whole bunch of people moving in and out of the project as they're able.
You could make a pretty cool alternate boygenius from this playlist alone.... Mitski, Michelle Zauner and Dua Lipa anyone?
