I had a couple I was choosing between. I was gonna go Townes but for sure thought someone would pick him. ZB but wasn't sure if modern country was the movie. I guessed that it was gonna lean heavy alt-country, so I wanted to go with a pop country artist. Here are some of the ones I almost went with:

Fwiw I also don't think the theme had to be Country, I picked a non-country song with some twang that I love and thought would play well with this group

I already sorta posted my runner ups, but since it seems like people might want more recs for this round, here are the other three that were banging around in my head

 

Yola is great too, but ultimately decided she didn’t hit the yeehaw aspect hard enough even though she fits

 

This Drive By Truckers song is great. Never listened to them

 

One of my picks was Fire by Waxahatchee but I changed it at the last minute to a song that isn’t doing so hot.

I definitely didn’t go with a country song but 99% of the songs are.

 

Feel like half of these songs aren't country songs, and that's okay
