I finally finished The Good, The Bad and The Ugly this weekend. It was good. This was better

 

a contender for best living actor. I haven’t seen Mister Lonely, might try to check that one off soon.

 

Mister Lonely was my first Korine, and it was one of his easiest ones to watch before he started getting mainstream recognition.

Horror is a genre where I have some catching up to do.

Cannibal Holocaust was one I forgot on my initial list and then wondered if it was actually good or if I was just 13 and my friends and I were just looking for fucked up stuff. I mostly remember the turtle scene.

 

CH is definitely an exploitive grindhouse movie with some truly fucked stuff in in it but that’s what I find endearing about it. It’s this uncompromising, raw experience that pushes many boundaries and forces you to look at these horrific images. Plus, it marks an end of an era in Italy’s dominance in horror, as the 80’s gave way to America taking over the landscape.
