Yeah, this is fucking incredible. Just so brutally, beautifully honest. Her ex-husband sounds like a world-class piece of shit, and this album absolutely does not pull any of its punches in airing all of the dirty laundry of their divorce. "Young Man" is really heartbreaking.
Yeah you can totally tell that this was an album that had to be made, not an album that they just wanted to make to reuinite
This is incredible. I listened last night and truly had a moment thinking about how some of my first musical memories are of The Chicks' songs and now all these years later here they are releasing an album with one of my favorite artists (Jack) and it just feels really full circle. Every song on this feels vital and different, like each is a different piece of the story. Even with a lot of slower/somber songs it never feels boring. The opening trio of songs is so much fun. For Her does what The Archer should've done. Tights On My Boat is just such a cool song. Julianna Calm Down is even more powerful in the context of the album. I love how personal the album is, and then that song reaches out to the world and acknowledges that this is more than just one woman's story.
This is incredible. "Texas Man" is such a jam. Getting Haim vibes from that one. Also - seeing a Charlotte Lawerence cover on here was very unexpected. This whole thing is sooo good!!
Honestly at this point, if Jack's working with a female artist on a full album I will pre-order the vinyl. What a damn run.
What song are those two piano notes reminding me of off of “Everybody Loves You”. It’s identical to some song. Almost sounds like a damn sample.
I don't know if country-pop gets any better than this in today's musical landscape. Phenomenal album. Everyone crushed it and Natalie's voice remains one of my favorites.
"my best friend's weddings" -> "tights on my boat" -> "julianna calm down" ^^^ listening to this sequence of songs was like being on drugs
Yeah, she's able to convey a metric ton of personality through her voice. It's the difference between good songwriting and a great recorded song.
