I'm pretty sure this is NOT the year for Furnace Fest rumors. I'm increasingly more convinced FF isn't even happening.
I mean, maybe it will still happen. Yes there was some drama with the original 4 founders and sounded like 2 of them sold it out (possibly to a company with ties to Kid Rock ). Many community members are losing faith. My main thought process is we're getting lineups for festivals like Louder than Life, Aftershock, Shaky Knees that happen around the same time (historically) and we don't even have dates yet for Furnace Fest. People need to plan and they're losing a lot of cross over business.
Wars and Rumors of Wars has been on my mind lately. May be biased because it was the first era I followed as a fan but these days I play it more often than the rest of their (untouchable) discography
Reading that American football article on GQ where Mike kinsella’s mom and Brother were reaming him out for not playing a reunion show when they heard the amount of money they were being offered and being like “MIKE YOU HAVE KIDS”, I was like why was no one doing this to Josh?
There are two things that surprise me when I think about The Chariot: 1. That One Wing was released in 2012 - seriously, that’s a lifetime ago and feels like it, but it feels like yesterday in some ways and it’s surreal it’s 14 years ago. Time is weird. 2. That the whole history of The Chariot barely spans any time yet their influence and credibility remains intact - they were basically active for 10 years, 2003-2013… it’s been a longer time since then, ‘68 have been around longer, yet The Chariot still remain present in our hearts and the love endures. I don’t know, just find these two things eye opening, or even hard to wrap my head around, when I spend a moment actually thinking about them. It’s also 3.48am UK time so none of this may make sense.
I’ve seen ‘68 live twice and both times he’s played (part of) a Chariot song. Both excellent live bands, but ‘68 really just doesn’t compare.
