When I was getting a new car last year, it was between this and the Mazda 3 hatchback I ended up getting. Seems like a great car.
I took my car in and he said I need a new catalytic converter. They haven't given me a price estimate yet but from my Google search it's not looking good, which is basically what the repair shop warned me about the price. I hate cars. I'd read about a slightly older model commonly getting an engine light after getting the oil changed so I was hoping that was it since I got my oil changed the day before the light came on. Even the other shop guy asked him if he was sure and he said he tested it twice. Idk. I'm kinda upset lol
I know this might not be helpful at all, but if you can find someone other than a mechanic to fix it, do it. Depending on your car, you might be able to find a "direct fit" converter which is an easier job. I think the hardest part I had with mine was unplugging part of it since a wire ran through the floor board. Taking off the cat and putting on the new one was relatively simple. It beats getting ripped off by mechanics who will charge you hundreds for labor. I'm not very car savvy but I was lucky enough to know someone who is. Just my two, unhelpful cents.
Been driving that for 6 years... 98K miles on it. Probably getting rid of it and getting a hybrid when I get back from deployment next year. We also have a 2014 Grand Caravan... lol
I tried but nobody that I know of can do it. My dad can fix a few things but not many, and my stepdad is kinda the same. My bff's boyfriend works on cars but I think I burned bridges with him lol. I'm gonna wait for them to give me a price quote and move on from there. I'm not working rn so it's really bad timing. Edit: $500 ughhhh
@Kiana thats a bummer. Maybe if you show your dad and step dad a YouTube vid of the job they can make the call? I guess when it comes down to it you could shop around a little bit to find a good deal. Hope it works out! @Brent My first car was a Grand Caravan. Super comfortable. Had it until it was totaled a couple years ago. Got so much shit for driving that thing - people are dicks.
not mine but i have that car. 98 lexus es300. i drove an 89 corolla with no ac for the first like six years i drove until it died. then i drove my dad's 2000 toyota tacoma for a year and my parents bought my late grandma's car for him in the meantime. he signed it over to me eventually and i sold it and bought this car. it's the first car that's actually mine and i was kinda hasty in picking it but i'm pretty happy.
We only have one kid, and only plan on having one kid... a van was never in the cards for us to get but between driving friends around and using it for photography related help it's been amazing.
I made a run to Vegas once and was glad to have the extra room Fold the seats down, throw in a mattress, and you've got yourself a hotel on wheels, too.
I removed the middle seats entirely on a couple trips. Loved using the that extra space under the floor for storage.
Yeah, not many cars have removable seats anymore. I remember my parents had a van that the middle seats came out of, that'd be so useful for me now that I'm an adult and would like to carry shit around. I mean, they fold down so I can get lumber and stuff, but to pull them out completely would be great.
Just bought a Mazda CX-5 GT last week. Absolutely love it. First time owning a Mazda, any other Mazda owners out there????!?!?
That's awesome! The 3s are great, I was looking into those, but live close to the beach and figure the CX5 can help me haul all my gear haha.
I'm getting a downpipe installed in my car tonight/tomorrow then it's getting custom tuned. I've done so much to the car over the past few weeks. By next Tuesday, I'll be done with all of the upgrades I've been planning for months.
I've had a bad rattle somewhere under my car for weeks. I'll check to see what it is when it finally breaks.
I just picked my car up from the shop and I didn't realize until I was driving that the engine light was still on. Hopefully they just forgot to clear it cause if it's a different problem I will lose it. I'm already on the verge of tears cause I don't wanna go back there fml.
Where's a reputable place to get my alignment done? I don't want to pay full price for a half-ass job. I'd rather pass, to be honest, but who knows the last time it was done on this car.
Was planning on this being my next car, but leaning towards Outback now for the extra space. We have the Mazda 3 hatchback and are running out of space so thinking we need something larger. Love Subaru's though, such great cars.
Love the Outback. Great choice. What kind of car do you have? How old is it? I think you'd be fine going to a pepboys, midas, firestone, etc., but a better option would be a local garage that's been around for a long time and has a good reputation. I wouldn't go to jiffylube though.
My engine light is on and an exclamation point. They gave me the code for the engine light but idk what it means when I Google. Idk what the exclamation point is for but I'm guessing nothing good
It's a 97 Honda CR-V. I remember a garage someone told me about that's local - I'll look into that. As long as the car doesn't shake at 70+mph and my steering wheel is straight, I'll be happy.
