Vinyl is waiting for me at my mailbox, can't remember the last time I had a record show up at release date lol, they usually come days AFTER.

Damn, my Bandcamp copy isn't shipping until a week after release

I ordered from AltPress and all the previous times I've ordered from them and Brooklyn Vegan (they share the same warehouse) they ship the day of release so this was a welcome suprise for sure.

And Wes Borland on bass, insane stuff. Record was a real "stars aligning" moment and I feel like you can hear it, but I'm not 100% sure normal FFTL fans were ready for something that mature and dark out of them. Incredible to me though, I remember it leaking early and hearing Mothersound and having my mind totally blown.

I've been very excited to listen to this and I was risking overplaying Lemon / Two-Headed Trout that I decided to listen to Celebrity Therapist for the first time. I'm on my 6th or 7th listen and I'm convinced Beautiful Dude Missile is the coolest song of all time

Title track and what is delicious who swarms are still their best songs…maybe, lemon and two headed trout are close. can’t wait to hear the rest of this

Title Track was the moment when I thought, “oh wow, this band is special.”

Funnily enough, this was also the track that HOOKED me on them and made me realize holy crap this band was special.

what an insane closing track, was wondering how they’d follow up star baby

whole album is just something else entirely. it’s truly all over the place, they take everything from the first two albums and EP and crank it up to a million. more left turns more fucking with genre more heaviness more pop hooks and it’d be easy to say they’re just taking the piss here if they didn’t pull it all off so exceedingly well. they care about their craft and their craft is making your head spin. lots of bands claim to defy genre, to transcend genre. how many of them actually do it? how many of them actually do it like this? honestly, who the fuck else could’ve ever made an album like this

Unpopular opinion after one listen through: I would prefer them to further streamline their sound and songwriting. Maybe I'll change my mind as everything continues to gel, but right now the album suffers from the "Oh, man! This part's really goo- ...it's gone..." syndrome.

they really held Distracted By The Mona Lisa off for the last single even though it's the catchiest thing they've ever written huh

yeah they fucking murdered this, pretty much everything I've ever wanted them to sound like and a billion more things I never even imagined they could do. no misses either, insanely consistent and insane album

This album is such a huge step up for them, it’s incredible. It reminds me so much of the formative albums I would have been obsessed with in high school…I hope it gets the flowers it deserves.

this is a feature not a bug imo - leave 'em wanting more. there are a couple songs that drop a killer "chorus" that actually only appears once, inviting you to savour it. (or listen again.) and hey just for balance there are a few straight up verse-chorus-verse "pop" numbers.

this sort of restraint is all over the album. it would have been so easy for "body horror for birds" to explode into catharsis at some point but it's very cool to me that it never does, just shimmers and slides for five whole minutes.

The Orthodox feature is unreal. I saw them split a set at Furnace Fest on the main stage with No Cure, and it was insane. The south has some BANDS right now.
