i think both songs are amongst the best things they've ever written. i'm beyond stoked for this.

 

100%. There’s a really unique balance they have here where, when I think back on the songs, I think they’re relatively straightforward and memorable/catchy, but while I’m actively listening I’m surprised by how wacky and weird they are at specific moments. It’s a testament to Carson’s improved songwriting

 

The intro to "demon of unreality" is hilariously mathy, gonna be fun to watch people try to thrash around to that

Just did a full discography re-listen in anticipation of the new album and they really do just get better with each release, only argument is God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys vs Celebrity Therapist but with how short God Smiles is and how relatively close in release they are I'll consider them the relative same era

And seems like that trend will continue with this new album

Can't wait for this, got the vinyl pre-ordered already.

 

The way Carson delivers the line "I think you'll like it, like it, like it" was really reminding me of a different song, and I felt like it was something from the late 2000s post-hardcore scene, and sure enough I realized what it was. Nic Newsham from Gatby's American Dream, on Dance Gavin Dance's song Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most.

New songs sounded awesome live by the way. somehow on the same tour as Thursday and Silverstein, they were my absolute favorites of the whole night. Can't wait for the whole album
