Im so addicted to Full Moon Guidance it’s insane

 

Oh man. Lambo Leather is where it's fucking at!

 

Does anyone have the Blue/Beige vinyl variant? I'd love to see it while I wait for mine to get here.

 

So full disclosure, not normally the biggest fan of their slower/poppy stuff. But Body Horror for Birds is scratching a nice little itch for me.

 

I'm going to need these guys to make more 10+ minute weird fuck epics.

 

this is the album I've been anticipating most all year, and thankfully completely delivers in a way basically no other band is even trying to do right now AFAIK. stray thoughts I have had at random while listening:

• it's funny (sometimes very funny) but also strangely moving - just self-mocking enough in its self-seriousness
• feels much shorter than its 57 minutes because it is impeccably sequenced
• really love the guests plucked from (further) obscurity especially of course that orthodox feature holy cow but also love the duet vox on "birds"
• if citizen made "lemon" it would be one of their very best songs
• the conceptual bits are well-executed and not overbearing, actually enhancing rather than detracting from the experience
• the production is great, love that they stuck with their preferred producer rather than say a ross robinson type, but he shows up anyway in a sort of meta nod I can't not grin at
• this prompted me listen to FFTL's heroine (my first time listening to them in any form) and sorry but I have to deem it merely "pretty OK MCR-ish emo" for the most part, however it did make me appreciate how "body horror" was perhaps conceived as the "waves goodbye" of this album.
• still find the way they shove the violin waaay down in the mix and playing super quiet parts is baffling but at this point it seems to be just part of the daoboys soundworld or whatever
• "mona lisa" has grown on me tenfold since release

I’m sorry but “pretty ok MCR-ish emo” is not what I would describe Heroine as haha

i really like the part in Douchebag Safari (2:13; “How can I milk this”) when it sounds like what I can only describe as the Pokemon Xatu 60 times my size yelling at me from across a canyon

 

That's the "Full Moon Memory" variant. Probably the best one imo

 

I got the Calf variant (neon coral, black and white)

 

Man, I could have the last 5 or so minutes of “Country Song in Reverse” play in my head / be the constantly playing soundtrack to my life for the rest of life

 

The smash into "When I thought you were God" on Douchebag Safari is where I'm currently at spiritually

 

I was so surprised when I read that Carson was unsure about his clean vox originally. hot take but they're better than his screaming imo

 

feeling this too--first couple of listens i thought, maybe this is a little dense, maybe the "museum" bits would be skips, but something about the whole thing is compelling and just end up playing the whole thing front to back again

 

What a fucking record. Two-Headed Trout and Idiot Temptation Force are competing for my favorite track.

 

Douchebag Safari is the one for me rn

 

this is great and fun. Lemon is one of the best done non-metal interludes on a metal album i've ever heard

 

I’ve never listened to this band before, just admired their name from afar… holy shit was I sleeping on gold. This is awesome.

 

I’m v glad I didn’t listen to any of the singles cuz Two Headed Trout really caught me off guard when it came on. Love whatever the synth is doing

 

Their music video for that and The Demon Dog is pure genius
