yeah sure maybe it is but I shouldn’t have to watch 2 seasons of that to get random stupid shit that happens in season 5 of the boys that’s been running since 2019!!

  3. this show started out feeling like a deconstruction of the mcu-ification of the superhero genre but now it's doing the marvel thing by adding more and more spinoffs.

so i mean yeah i agree you shouldn't have to watch gen v to understand the boys

buuuut i also agree that gen v is better than the last two seasons of the boys

  4. vought rising sounds dumb and i don't care that jensen's in it. shoulda just focused more on giving us a better final season of this show cuz now idgaf about more spinoffs

Yeah Gen V was good. It was also received well by most of the people who saw it, the problem was mainly at this point there were a lot of people who had soured out in The Boys in general. The setting was new and fresh and I especially liked how it goes into the overarching universe.

    Gimme The Boys Connected Universe.

It was a let down either way because they didn’t even really do anything with gen v lol there was no winning with this season

I do think there are plenty of interesting spin offs they can do with the world they built. I really think they need fresh writers though.

I’m also more interested in a post the boys story than prequel stuff. I don’t find soldier boy compelling at all and I can’t stand his dialogue. I don’t care how he fell in love with a nazi. But it could be cool to build a story around supes who saw the strongest one ever get embarrassed and killed on live tv.

  11. exactlyyyy. it's such a waste that so much time this season was spent setting up such a dumb concept for a spinoff

    Die rad.

Meh, nothing caught my attention. But I'm not really one for period type pieces. The Boys and Gen V seemed much more interesting. Probably why I didnt love the It tv series too much either.

Just finished this season, really enjoyed it. Lotta dick-related dialogue as referenced.

  15. ah, so that's where the budget went for S5

I mean, she was literally experimented on in the episode to try and give her the powers like they did with Soldier Boy. It’s all explained pretty straightforwardly.

Sorry for picking up on this three weeks later, only just seen it haha

Enjoyed the series overall. The absolute mess that is US politics at the moment makes a parody other than an obvious parodies all but impossible. Thinking that definitely helped my enjoyment of the last 2 seasons.

Agree with those that said the two seasons of Gen V are better than those last two seasons though. Also agree with the complaints about Gen V characters not being integrated more.

It all just came together so last minute and felt very convenient. It definitely seems like they had no real plan for killing Homelander despite, very obviously, spinning their wheels for at least two seasons.

Also "if you blast a supe with radiation for long enough they develop the power to remove super powers" is weird

Sure it’s weird, the whole premise is weird. But it’s a technique set up in the show two seasons earlier when Soldier Boy blasted Maeve and it removed her powers. It’s not like it’s something that came out of the blue. Convenient that they found the info on how Soldier Boy got that power, sure. But it’s all set up as they go along. Much like the gangs plans considering everything kept going wrong/didnt work.

Plus they did have a plan to kill Homelander. They had the disease they made to kill him, but when he took the dose of V1, they had to pivot.
