Yeah Annie and MM talking to those gen v people I guess? confused me because I didn’t watch that show and didn’t know what was going on for a minute.
Yea I didn’t think it was a bad ep at all. The season overall is not what I expected (smaller scope / scale, possibly budget related) but still enjoying it.
I am in the minority that really liked the show the last 2 seasons. I feel like this season has been less reliant on the crude humor. However, Sages arch is incredibly pointless and I wish there was more integration of the Gen V cast. I’m still excited for the finale and glad the show is ending as it’s ran its course.
I liked episode 5 and 6 felt like we were finally getting somewhere, but I can’t believe that this was the penultimate episode of the entire series. Starlight and MM’s plot was unbelievably pointless, while Hughie and Butcher did nothing except relitigate Butcher’s trauma that was already dealt with like 2 seasons ago. I haven’t watched Gen V so those cameos felt so completely out of place and weird
With how they built up Marie, her role in this last season should be more than a few brief cameos. Honestly makes Gen V seem pointless which sucks because those 2 seasons ruled.
Yeah it's baffling if THATS the only reference to Gen V we get. Marie was supposed to be Homelander tier.
I’m enjoying this season, but I think its main problem is that it’s too late. It’s like what Veep said, “We stopped because we couldn’t script it more insane than what was already happening.” So everything in this, after the absolute shitfest that’s been the last 18 months, feels stale and too late in some ways.
I also just think the parody is very broad and easy, I don't think they've done anything too clever or poignant
I don’t think it has anything to do with the real world satire at all. For one, it’s not as if our current political / cultural moment is so much more ridiculous than it was during the first Trump admin. But also, all of the stuff with Homelander and the supes is the part that is still entertaining and worth watching, despite how obvious it can be. The complete lack of subtlety somehow works It’s all of the stuff with the protagonists that is a completely uninteresting, repetitive slog
I've been enjoying this season. I don't really get a lot of the complaints other than the handling of Gen V to be honest, which has been a completely massive waste. And I guess I'm also pretty over the Butcher internal demons/does he actually care about Hughie at all stuff. I like what's happened with the Deep, the stuff with killing even Homelander's biggest supporters, Starlight saving them anyway, Kimiko taking charge of her own destiny, Frenchie's death hit me. Idk it's working for me
Curious how they wrap this alllll up in an hour this week. Seems like a lot of stuff will not be handled.
Show has gotten a little repetitive, the writing is a bit much, last episode was pretty middle of the road... But I'm enjoying this season, this show has mostly always delivered and it's still funny. The characters and the cast are just so good and I still find the humor sharp and smart. Really gonna miss it. Watching Homelander over the yeas has been a treat. I hope they give Butcher a nice heartfelt moment with Hughie when they wrap things up.
finale was fine. homelander not going on a crazy rampage was a letdown. feel like they could’ve done a lot more with the final fight but the butcher/hughie ending was nice
I thought this was pretty bad, until the final scene with Hughie and Butcher, which is like allll time bad. I kept expecting it to pull out and reveal it was them filming some cliche action movie or something. Such a tacked on, horribly written scene. This show spun its wheels for 3 seasons and still the best they could come up with is "Kimiko, at the last minute, realizes she can take super powers away" And honestly forgot Hughie and Starlight were a couple
this was... i don't wanna say satisfying, but maybe, satisfactory? given how the show hasn't really been "good" for quite some time now, this was about the best we were ever gonna get from a finale. it was pretty clear from the previous episode that the gen v kids weren't gonna be in the final fight and obviously soldier boy was put on ice again, so they did what they could with the pieces they left for themselves on the board. season as a whole wasn't great (i still think they shouldve integrated gen v more rather than focusing on setting up vought rising), but the finale was fine, i had no major qualms over it.
They knew where they wanted characters to end up but no idea how to get them there. Annie should be the one to kill the Deep, sure. But taking him out of the city, surrounded by electricity where she is powerful, all the way to the ocean, where in her mind he is powerful, makes zero sense. She didn't know that the sea creatures had turned on him. Also how far is the ocean from the white house? did she fly him like 100 miles? I know it's a dumb super hero show and you gotta suspend disbelief but this is a lot
thought the finale was pretty good considering what the season set up; I gotta imagine they had brutal budget constraints, the whole season just reeks of it. The epic conclusion to the series also being in a small interior room; woof.
The major details of the finale made sense and were expected but the execution was really bad. I kinda wish they would have just went all in on pissing people off and had a supe run through Hughie at the end
Can’t the deep traverse water super fast like aqua man? He was swimming for his life with just like swimmer strokes lol the writers don’t even bother to follow their own story
