Man Antony Starr is just so good at playing a complete psychopath. Absolutely nothing behind is creepy eyes
I love all of the stuff with Homelander but the stuff with the boys themselves is as boring as ever. Its so plodding.
This show is so deranged it's tough to watch sometimes. I'm really enjoying this season though, but it seems every episode just gets darker and darker. I'm not quite sure I see a way out for anyone at the minute. Half way through, it's gonna get wild.
Having Homelander be the actual villain and not just an obstacle or a pawn in someone else’s plan makes the show way more interesting
I don't necessarily think it makes it more interesting as it'd imply that the last seasons were lacking, but I certainly like the direction it's going in, and it's felt organic and like the logical progression for the storyline to ramp up the action and tension, and Anthony Starr nails the role this season. Homelander is just totally unhinged and everything he says and does is so chilling, but then you can tell he stills gets upset when people stand up to him (like Edgar), so the way he's playing both the 'I don't care, I'm crazy' role, but displaying some vulnerabilities with his expressions, is so good. I'll spoiler tag this but related to the above my theory was that Edgar knew what Homelander was up to and the compound that was given to Zoe by Nadia was going to turn out to be something harmful but in the brief scene we saw after it happened, that's probably not the case. Edgar just seemed too cool and collected and smug with homelander when he said 'what did you give her?' as if he already knew. Maybe in the next episode we'll end up rushing Zoe to the hospital and Edgar will show up with the cure and be like 'you picked the wrong side'.
There were elements I liked last about E5, mostly it feels like it is taking emotional stock of where the characters are right now.
I always consider reading the books and then remember how god awful the art is. The colorists in particular are fucking atrocious.
