Last night was the best. Souls are the best band. Sounded tight as ever. For our request portion of the set we got BMX Song, Bullying the Jukebox and 80’s Movies. Was hoping to get punks in Vegas this time around but :( 7 seconds was way better than I excepted, Kevin sounded really good. Strike Anywhere was perfect as always. Catbite was a good time too as usual, my fiancé was shocked by the turn from catbite to strike anywhere as she wasn’t really familiar with either lol
Glad your show was a blast! They were super tight on the Boston date with all sorts of energy. I swear, they aged up like, ~15 years ago but haven't moved an inch older since then. Haha. The request portion in Boston was a bit shorter... But we got "I like Your Mom" and "Lamar Vannoy" which was pretty fun. I'm kinda kicking myself because I actually got to hang with the band before the Boston date (from that Patreon thing they did during the pandemic) and didn't think to request a song or take a picture to commemorate it! Hah! "Punks in Vegas" would have been my request... But I did get to watch them soundcheck two covers ("Save It For Later" by the English Beat and "Better Things" by the Kinks) and the song they wrote for my partner and I which was surreal. They also mentioned during the acoustic pre-show thing they'd be recording a second acoustic record. And they played "Bullying the Jukebox," mentioning that it might wind up on there so... Not surprised it made its way into the regular set!
Can’t wait to see them rip through these albums tonight and tomorrow! Bummed to miss last night looked like a cool show
It’s wild to me apartment 5f is not in the set rotation. Song bangs and was so good to finally see live.
Man, all these posts are making me so jealous... I feel pretty lucky that I got to see each of these records live before when they did that "For All The Unheard" thing like, 10+ years back but still. Haha. Hard agree! The great thing about tours like this is that it can sometimes jostle certain songs free for the band that they wrote off years back... That would be a great one to see come back into the rotation!
The Souls put together a Bouncing Souls/Sick Of It All collab shirt with all proceeds going to Lou for his treatment. Basic but fun design. Soulsmerch.com
Based on the most recent email blast it looks like fans will be asked to "vote on a selection of deep cuts nightly to be added to the set list" during the ECFU Tour. Voting will take place via their news letter. Pretty fun idea!
LFG! Good chance I might actually be able to and will be motivated to attend this year... Depending on the line-up. I always start each year assuming I'll probably not get a chance to see them. But I've already got two shows on the books (with Dropkick, Hot Water, and Rebuilder in ~2 weeks here in Boston on that ECFU! tour in May in CT). Adding a third show to the line-up and turning it into a long weekend with some vegan restaurants and a trip to the Bronx Zoo on the way home seems like a dope idea! EDIT: According to the Stone Pony "the full lineup will be announced in the coming weeks so stay tuned to the bands social media."
At the Boston show last night, Greg mentioned between songs that new music would be coming from them "soon." Pretty vague but considering they were in the studio last month I'd guess we might hear a new single in late spring/early summer?
At first I thought they were recording the new acoustic album but I'm glad it seems to be new music. Ever since they've started recording with Yip the material has been very strong. Stoked!
How I Spent is just such a good album. Actually one of the few releases from that era that 20 odd years later still has no skips for me.
Pretty wild from top-to-bottom! The only one I don't actively love is Crazy and the Brains who are good enough live to still fit into the "banger" category. Haha. Now it's time to start hoping for an H2O/School Drugs pre-show!
New single "United" hits streaming next Tuesday! There's a clip in the post below, and I guess it's already accessible via TikTok. It's also in rotation on Faction Punk/SiriusXM. ...And from the caption in the IG post it sounds like they're announcing either an album or a 7-inch on Tuesday too!
Would love to see em in the UK again. Saw them supporting Green Day on the Warning tour and then a few months later on this punk festival in 2001 but never since!
